I feel very sad at the passing of the Queen.

She led a good long life and worked hard doing her duties to the very end as she has done since becoming Queen.

I feel the same even though it was expected and it seems she had a peaceful end to her life.

"I serve". Those words were an inspiration to many
bygone heirs to the Throne when they made their knightly dedication as they
came to manhood. I cannot do quite as they did.

I can make my solemn act of dedication with a whole Empire listening.  I should like to make that dedication now.
It is very simple.

I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be
long or short shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great
imperial family to which we all belong.

But I shall not have
strength to carry out this resolution alone unless you join in it with me, as I
now invite you to do: I know that your support will be unfailingly given. God
help me to make good my vow, and God bless all of you who are willing to share
in it.

RIP ER II

Honestly I don't know how I feel, I'm glad she went peacefully, it did seem quite sudden. She's been such a constant I've never known any other monarch, it will be weird to have a king instead of a queen. I'm not a monarchist, but I do feel like this is the end of an era, as of course it is, it does feel like unknown territory and I'm not sure yet if this will good territory or not.

A very sombre mood throughout the hospital today from staff and patients at the sad news of the Queen's death.

Windsor is busier than I have seen it for a long time with so many people wanting to pay their respects to the Queen.

Yes Windsor was busy as you would expect. They have it well organised with a central point to leave flowers which are then taken into the castle at regular intervals.

Whilst I dislike the idea of a monarchy, this is the death of a person and common humanity means I feel a sadness for the family. Something I found interesting though, and whether it actually happens or not I don't know, was that the late queen's body will be transported via road to Edinburgh, intentionaly passing through rural villages en route to give people chance to pay their respects....I wonder if the late queen stipulated that? if it happens that way.
Whatever feelings I have about things, a lot of people are truely saddened by her death and that seemed a thoughtful thing to do for them.

I'm not a fan of the monarchy as such but that it probably on a matter of principle than anything else because the alternatives seem even worse. but I agree with you terry that the millions of people wanting to mourn her should be given every opportunity and the drive through the villages might well have been her idea. I feel she was particularly well liked by her neighbours in Scotland.

There is no doubt that she was a good and dedicated lady who did the country proud and she will be a sad loss.

I'm not a particularly emotional type but I do feel saddened by the loss of the Queen. Someone I have grown up with all my life and someone I have always admired.

I share the sentiments of most of the posters on here and most of the people I work with and socialise with in feeling a sadness at the Queen passing even though is wasn't unexpected. She has been such an amazing and inspirational Queen from the first day of her coronation until her death and has always been part of our lives.

Strange, that even in death the cameras follow her, as if wanting to make sure she has really died....or perhaps?

Not so strange terry I think the cameras will be following her to the last possible moment and then there will be films and documentaries for many years to come.

Huge crowds turned out in Edinburgh as the Queen's coffin arrived.

A fine lady and a sad loss to the country. She has done so much during her long reign there will be plenty to talk about for many years to come.
