Thank you to everyone for maintaining the positive spirit of this little thread. x

I had a brilliant day today. I feel 100%, have had no issues and, to look at me, (or hear me), you wouldn't know that today was the day I was supposed to start radiotherapy.

It's actually been cancelled cos I need an unexpected TURP operation, (Google it), but, just saying; it has taken a few months and its been a hard slog but I've really recovered well from the biopsy, the DVT and the sciatica to a point that all three of those things are now pretty much history. Touch wood.

Just over a couple of months ago, I couldn't lift a Morrison's box of washing powder but today, I've installed (spare) solar powered 240v electrical sockets in the kitchen AND the bedroom AND run a supply out to the outhouses with a cable now spanning from cottage to outbuildings via a straining wire above the path outside.

Point being; I never thought I'd get back to my old self after several months of painful, tedious, scary and uncomfortable treatment but I actually have ... (Pause) ... just in time to prepare for it all to start again! :)

Anyway. Time for bed but a big THANK YOU just for being there the other side of my LCD screen!

Nite nite. xxx :)

Change.org are circulating a petition that needs more signatures and recognition, calling for immediate emergency airlift supplies to people in Ukraine ...

My family lives in Mariupol. This city on the Sea of Azov is surrounded by Russian troops. Friends are hiding in air raid shelters or villages in Kyiv. Others are fighting in Kherson or Odesa. The shortage of shelter, food and medicine is already making life very difficult for many residents. The lack of these, however, is becoming devastating.

We call for an emergency airlift to bring supplies for the threatened Ukrainian towns and villages: Food, water, medicine, hygiene articles and clothing. That is what is missing and for both my family and people in Ukraine it is a matter of life and death!

I thiink Putin intends to obliterate the towns and cities and rule over a dead land devoid of life just so as he can say he's won, what a pathetic little man!

At least the nuclear power station seems safe at the moment, I hope it stays that way.

Criticism is being levelled at the Home Office for not allowing peole resident and working here to bring thier loved ones over, a British man can bring his Ukrainian wife, but not his step daughter, another mancan't bring his sister and mother here because he's not been here long enough to have permanent leave to rermain. Its all very well for Priti Patel be be stood in Poland telling the BBC that those people will be allowed in, but when, what part of humanitarian crisis does she not understand?

"I salute them all that are suffering, but when will this end!!!!"

Hi Geone :)

Wouldn't it be lovely if the madman just ran out of cash and couldn't maintain his hold over Ukraine. It could yet end up that way, especially if those 40+ million Ukrainians maintain their incredible spirit and embrace a guerrilla warfare outlook AND the world continues to unbolt Putin's incomes. Just a wish but who knows?

"I thiink Putin intends to obliterate the towns and cities and rule over a dead land devoid of life just so as he can say he's won, what a pathetic little man!"

That's plan B or plan C, isn't it, Hen?

Plan A was to leave entirely things intact and simply put a Putin puppet in as president. That aint 'appening any time soon, I pray.

**Good news for the Ukrainians re the infamous convoy. It is still grounded and the front of it is now getting hammered according to the newswires.

NEW.

The Independent

Three commanders in Russia’s army have been killed after moving up towards the frontline in an apparent attempt to restore momentum to the invasion of Ukraine, according to Western sources.

The deputy commander of the 41st Combined Arms Army, Maj Gen Andrei Sukhovetsky, whose death from a probable sniper bullet was revealed on Thursday, is the highest-ranking member of the invasion force to lose his life after nine days of fighting.

Now Western officials have confirmed that a divisional commander and a regimental commander have also been killed, in what was described as a “surprising” development resulting from a breakdown in command and control systems.
It is believed that the senior officers may have moved from positions in the rear to unusually exposed frontline locations in an bid to impose their personal authority on a flagging advance, which has been beset with logistical problems and fierce resistance from Ukrainian troops.

Recent days have seen Vladimir Putin’s forces switch from their initial plan to take Ukraine swiftly with a “thunder road” drive to the cities to a more cautious and brutal tactic of bombardment, which has claimed many civilian lives.
The past 24 hours have seen a continued barrage of air and artillery strikes on Ukrainian cities, including residential areas, as well as the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, said Western officials.

One said that this was “probably a consequence of Russia’s efforts to mitigate the ongoing logistical difficulties and counter strong Ukrainian resistance”.

The opening days of the invasion have demonstrated severe shortcomings in the Russian army’s planning and execution of an operation which is larger than many of those involved have ever trained for, said the official.

I don't know Ollie, but people do and do so willingly.

Apparently the Ukrainians have shot down a fighter plane and captured a pilot, this pilot had previously served in Syria, the Ukrainians are turning him over to the Hague for war crimes. A helicopter has also been shot down.

85m has been raised in cash in the UK to help with the refugee crisis, something fund raisers are finding incredible, it is incredible, but it also dosen't surprise me given the strength of feeling.
