Do you like them. are you impressed by them. Do they make good pets? It is National Reptile Day.

I don't mind them, I can quite happily handle them, snakes can be quite interesting and feel lovely and soft, but I wouldn't want to have one as a pet.

Do you have wild animals for any kind as pets should be a thing of the past now.

Every year on October 21st, people around the world come together to celebrate all things Reptile. Universally loved creatures, reptiles can be found as household pets, in captivity and in their natural habitats which can be on land or in water. Whether you like snakes, lizards, bearded dragons, turtles, geckos or even crocodiles

All wild creatures are fascinating and reptiles are a varied and interesting group; some of them extremely beautiful. Always nice to see when I am on holiday. So much more variety in warmer places than here.

Shame doesn't exist in the animal kingdom. It's a human conception.

I was bitten by a snake a few years ago, I had to be taken to hospital for anti-venom, but it turned to have probably been a grass snake that bit me, either that or I'm one of the rare people who don't react to adder venom.

Don't their forked tongues pick up smell or taste?

I believe their tongues are used to smell the air for their prey.

Also because all reptiles are cold blooded the have to bask in the sun to get fully warmed up before moving to hunt. That is why there are less reptiles naturally in temperate climates.

When kept as pets in this country they usually have heated tanks or similar to live in. One of my nephews had a snake and it had it's own heated box to live in. Another had two bearded lizards and they lived in an empty aquarium tank with an infra red heater.

It's odd that calling someone a snake is a derogatory term when the snake is such a marvellous creature.

We have a very good crocodile zoo in Oxfordshire that not many people seem to know about as it's always fairly quiet but it's a brilliant day out. for a family with lots of crocs and similar reptiles and a lot of talks which are educational and interesting.

Animals with so many differences are much more interesting than humans who are all basically the same.

Crocodiles haven't changed much in the past 150 million years.
