Edinburgh, Prague, Paris (although it's deteriorated over the last few years), Barcelona, Galway, San Francisco, Zadar and Budapest. All places I'd choose to return to.

I like Amsterdam for a relaxed break and fly over a few times each year. In the uk it would be York.

Not really, I wouldn't choose to visit any city as my top priority. If I want a break of any kind, I usually head straight for the most remote godforsaken low population destinations on the planet.
My favourite cities are usually the kind that are some thousands of years old, crumbling and had to be re-excavated for us to see them at all today. Machu Picchu was pretty nice. Tikal and Chitchen Itza are still both high on my list of places that I would like to visit. Bit far for a weekend break from here though. :)

Favourite so far was Seattle. Only had 2.5 days but packed so much in and so much to go back for one day. Such a chilled funky City with so much going for it.

I too like York but locally more frequently visit Chester.
I was pleasantly surprised by Glasgow last year and also plan to return to Bristol.

Lol Templar, I fancy relaxing in Amsterdam too. Although I'd love to visit the art galleries as well as the coffee shops.
I used to be like you to Minnie, but now I live in a rural place I'd want a break somewhere where I can do some of the things I can't do at home, like visit musuems and galleries.
I used to like visiting Bath when I lived nearby.

wonderoushen I like visiting museums and galleries too as well as relaxing boat rides. There are a lot of quirky rules surrounding visits to cafes and coffeeshops but it’s a very friendly place.

I've been to Krakow a couple of times in the last twelve months.
So much history and wonderfully preserved architecture.
The biggest surprise was the number of great but modestly priced restaurants.

Used to like Paris on the Eurostar, it has or used to have an atmosphere all its own, but not so great now with the protests. Know Rome quite well, used to go by Europe's TGV, overnight, waking up in a different country. I think they're the only 2 I really like.
Well St. Petersburgh, actually Beijing, that is really different and a fascination, like cities and foreign countries.

Prague was a beautiful city when it was first accessible. When I was using it of a stop off point for travelling to to the Moravian Karst I was horrified. It's turned into a glorified version of Disneyland with tourists on segways nearly knocking you over on the pavements :'(
Brno and Plzen are much more interesting alternatives. I'd love to go back to Plzen for the annual Historical & Folk Festival (10-14 June this year) it's one of those hidden gems I fell across that the tourists don't know about... or at least didn't.

Cities aren't really my first choice though although Moulay Idriss was interesting. I'd much rather go to the remotest places in the world far from the madding crowd which is probably why I turned to trekking.
