Electoral representation in the UK Parliament (Westminster).
The options are:-

First Past The Post

Proportional Representation

(I know there are many options for the latter but this is only to get a rough idea.)

Just post your choice

SQL

[I have another poll but get this one finished first.]

PR too. I understand how the number of MPs from each party would be decided, based on the number of votes but not how they would decide which MPs would be selected to represent each party.

PR will result in us being like Italy - unable to make or pass major legislation that is not an emergency.

Would you care to show us the logic behind this statement?
I could equally well respond:- "PR will result in us being like Germany, Australia or Ireland".

Interesting SQL, for someone so anti-EU you should hold up their political systems as fine examples of how we should do it...

SQL - since WW2 Italy has had 61 governments - all by PR - all of whom could not enact major legislation dues to the precarious position of the 'ruling' coalitions.

The UK by comparison has only had 9

It's 74 years since the end of WWII, so the UK only having 9 governments means the average length of each government was over 8 years - I don't think so.

Back to your 'logic', just substitute Ireland for Italy and what do you get.

[The only thing you can prove with statistics is that you can prove anything with statistics - the same applied here methinks]

WRONG - I quoted individual countries within the EU, not the EU itself. The EU itself uses PR to elect a group of powerless MEPs to give the citizenry a sense of accountability.
