It's The Tories' Turn!

A chat about the recent Tory conference.

I recently posted a link to an audio podcast discussion (by journalists at libertarian online magazine 'Spiked-Online') about Labour and their recent party conference

I thought it would be a bit unfair of me not to do the same thing for the Tories and their party conference, here's a link to a corresponding 'Spiked' discussion of the Tories and their party conference.

See next...

Are you on a mission to make us listen to podcasts?

I take it that's addressed to me Hen?

It is the case that most people can copy any any link into their URL bar and reach an item easily. Therefore, If I hear something that I think will interest people (and it's not over lengthy or otherwise gruelling) then I'll point it up and provide the link. In this case I thought that since some peeps had previously gone to the Labour Conference discussion, then they might also do the same for the corresponding Tory one. They were both about 10 minutes which is an easy listen. In general - if something is fairly short & snappy, a link is a good solution when the alternative to a link would be the pages and pages of inpenetrable copied & pasted refs favoured by one our well-konwn posters who frequents the religion forum.

An example of when I would not post a link.
There is currently a very interesting piece about hypocrisy and double standards in racial politics on Quillette dot com. However, it's a pretty lengthy read, and I felt it highly unlikely that anyone would read it through and want to comment so (even though I feel the subject would interest peeps and bring a lot of comment) I haven't bothered with it.

Links are good, I use them myself in some posts and also clicking on someone elses post link. I haven't so far found any trouble coming from the ones I have clicked on , well, not much anyway, just my bank being drained and my identity stolen, but there is no money in the bank, and I hope the person using my identity is having a better time with it than I was.

Links can be a helpful thing, and also people could just search in google etc, they don't have to use the link.

You have to use your noggin though. Some people get too paranoid about links. You have to have some awareness. Clicking on a link from the BBC site, or a youtube fluffy cat video for instance, is probably a lot safer than clicking on from saucy suzie or horny harry, regarding having fun with viagra and whips.

Link to follow...only joking.

Ha ha, I didn't mean to post three times, it was a mistake, but rather apt.

Aww tell me about it Tumbles - I'm ALWAYS clicking on those 'Saucy Suzie' links!

Sorry to hear about your identity theft probs. You make a good point: in future I'll make sure to include a description peeps can google along with a link so they have the option.

I rarely follow links as they often lead to uninteresting drivel but I do sometimes follow those from Timmee as he is the man!

I resemble that remark!
