In the last 50 years of the 15th C. Lancastrians claimed the final victory at the Battle of Bosworth. Yorkshire = white rose, Lancashire = red.

Born and bred in Yorkshire although an adopted Geordie since I was 20 (my mum was a Geordie too so I guess I'm really a half breed). I still prefer white roses, not that I hold grudges or owt. And that's yet another reason to hate Mandelson and Kinnock.

MaoriCelloChick, That is not true of all of America, in Maryland it just as normal as in England and I used to put lashings on my Tarantula sandwich (Chesapeake soft-shell crab) and french fries (chips), Yummy!

I live in North Yorkshire, well it used to be before Cleveland was formed.

East Cleveland just 12 miles north of Whitby. It counts as the sign says "Part of the historic North Riding of Yorkshire".

I am not Yorkshire by birth. I was born in Wimbledon. I used to live in (British West ) Hartlepool and moved here over 6 years ago.

Bit of a mongrel really. A 57 varieties sort of person.
