I woke with a bit of a headache this morning so took a nurofen and it set me thinking.
If another part of my body was hurting I would do exactly the same thing, so how does the tablet know where the pain is?....

A good question and even the medical profession differs in some of it's opinions. Simplistically, Nurofen travels the body and targets the nerve endings preventing pain messages to the brain. Other drugs such as Paracetamol target straight to the brain.

A bit like the woman that accidentally swallowed her husband's Viagra tablet, it stuck in her throat, as it didn't know where to go...

She ended up with a 'stiff neck'!

lol :-)

When I have an ache....I often find that 'normal type' pills only really seem to get rid of head aches.....Any other aches seem to stay aching back...or aching leg.....etc.....

Some things carry on aching.....although the 'magic' stuff in the pill is probably working in some way....

But headaches......they often go away after a couple of pills......

Maybe it's all in my head......

I think I'll go and listen to some Placebo on Youtube....

Its always best, if you have a headache, to drink a glass of water first. It could just be a bit of dehydration.

I think what it is … is the Nurofen or paracetamol has to get into the blood system which then carries it to where the pain is, also i think the quicker the dissolve the sooner it gets to the area of pain … I Think!

I have ALWAYS thought exactly that....
Some adverts say " targets pain "
But how does it know ???

I understand a tube of pain relief that when rubbed on the area of
pain will act quickly....that's because the skin absorbs it, as a result it is fast acting.
But tablets ???
Don't get it :/
