I was about four years old when my dad brought home a dog which he had acquired down the pub one night after drinking too much. Lucky for the dog my dad didn't spend much time at home as he would shout and throw things at it.
Anyhow the rest of the family loved him. A dalmatian named Spot.

Monty was already called that when he came to us. When Pickle came to live with us, I couldn't remember her name and she was little thing for a while before eventually becoming Pickle. Manthing named Boris as part of the deal about me getting a kitten, Bertie sort of emerged as the name for this fierce little scrap of fluff we'd got. I named Fearn, Fearn because I didn't want another animal name with an EE sound at the end, but something short and simple and I like the name. Tiggy was called that by Manthing long before I ever met him.

We had a cat called 'Grunt' may years ago. Because he couldn't make any noise apart from a very asthmatic grunt when he tried to talk.

I had many Burmese cats before we had Huxley.
Huxley was named after the author of the book Brave new World. When Huxley came to live with us we had to accept that it would alter our world , but not in the way we expected it to be.
3 of the Burmese cats were called after favourite teas ! Assam, Darjeeling ( Ditty ) and the wonderful Earl Grey .
Of all the cats we had over 53 years, Grey was the best .

I am curious, Blue is good name for a black Labrador, Healthy jet-black hair sometimes has a blue sheen. . Bluey is an American name
but what breed is the dog with a friendly, homely name like Harry?

In the past I had 3 cats (all at once) called Amstrad, Sinclair and Panasonic. All rescues, all long haired and all beautiful. Sadly all gone now. I was devastated when they died, all in their late teens. When I first married we had Dobermann named Tarquin who was very lovable and lived to 15, alone with 2 cats called Glimpy and Speedy. Now we have 2 cats -Jerry and Blackie ( the feral) and a German Shepherd called Leah. She is gorgeous and loves me to bits. She is a bit daunting to outsiders.
