Would you go on a blind date now if the person you were meeting appeared to be a good prospect?

Depends on what a blind date is.....Mine is a sort of blindish datish...

Back in 1980 I went to a friends house.....they were having a party....They invited someone they thought might get on well with me....A person from the lady hosts workplace GCHQ....

From that we went out together...and were together for about 8 years......A great relationship....although it fell apart in the end...

I’m a fan of blind dates. I enjoy meeting someone I know little about and have not seen although since the “modern” invention of the internet it’s easier to have more information and possibly a pic too.
You meet for an hour for coffee and a chat ... what’s to lose?

Yes, if you mean you didn't know looks first.
No, if you mean no contact first and only met through a friend.

I tend to think a "blind" date is the latter.

If the first option is acceptable then I got to know them through messaging first and found, generally, that gave me good insight into the person.

As for physical looks it was rarely looks that put me off but habits or cleanliness. A couple of good conversationists on paper were nice human beings but had green slimy teeth, another felt he could tell me he was hanging too low which somehow dashed any romantic prospect!

I realise I wasn't really looking but they were. Even if agreed to just meet as potential friends.

Anyway, the last one I met for coffee has stayed 7 years.

I had a blind date several years ago that I hadn't thought was a blind date.
A friend had fallen for a guy at a big party when he and colleagues had come straight from a formal dinner. They were all US Navy pilots in full white dress uniform (think "Top Gun") looking very glamourous.. So when she phoned me next day and said the one she fancied had agreed to a dinner date with her as long as I would go as his friend's date, as his friend really liked me, I enquired as to which one the friend was (they'd all looked pretty good). She descibed him in great detail and I remembered him, (he'd been part of the group we'd spent time with) so agreed to go on the date. However when we all met up, the guy was not one I remembered having seen at all, and not the one she'd thought he was either, but he was very attractive, so, covering up our surprise we went ahead with the date.
Her date turned out to be a real sh*t, but mine was an absolute gem and we continued to date. It was never going to last as he was stationed in Spain, and then eventually back in USA, but we lasted about 6 months while he was in Spain, and I got to have some great times in the sun, too.
Moral of the story? Take a chance:)

I had a dinner date last night which was arranged by friends at their house. The lady was a relative of theirs and all we knew about each other was the verbal descriptions given by the hosts. I think we both liked each other and will meet again.

It can take confidence and self esteem to go on a blind date. Nobody wants to be a disappointment.
