I met a lady from Pof a couple of years ago and she was a little bit older than me at 68 but was very attractive and looked much younger. We dated a couple of times and I saw her online a bit later and her age was listed as 72 so I messaged her and we had a bit of a laugh that she had fibbed about her age.
A year later she was 68 as I know she thought listing as over 70 would put potential dates off
Logged on today and she is now, wait for it, 55. She could pass for that age in her photos but I'd like to see her again in real life.

Not that I mind or have any feelngs about it one way or the other but I did think it was an interesting story worth telling :)

I hope I look 55 when I’m in my 70s lol. Doubt it though as the wrinkles are approaching quickly.

I don't like the deception, it would put me off, not because of the age, but the lie.

On the other hand my grandfather lied to my grandmother and said he was 21 when he was 19. She was 21 at the time and they were happily married until she died early at age 72 of dementia and then a stroke.

I do think we shouldn't really take much notice of age. My friend has been happily married to a man 33 years older for around 8 years and they are well matched.

Don't you think once we get past 18, we age biologically and emotionally at different rates. I'm 65 and today I have seen 2 patients younger than me who are "old". Once had a 75 year old wife who was looking after him.

Then there was the other nurse I used to work with and one day she had been to a housebound man aged 75, but, she said, his wife aged 102 was his carer.

How about the woman on the news today who has sailed single-handedly for over a year and just docked in Canada, She is 77 I think?

I forgot to add, companionship and fun, sharing interests is more important than good looks.

I have found the most interesting and companionable people would not enter a beauty competition.

I knew a man who tweaked his profile like that, Colonel.
At various times his age was different, but also his height (he went from 5ft 8" to 6'2 at one point!) His educational qualifications and job also benefited from much tweaking:)

You do wonder what happens if these people go on dates as their alter-egos! Can't see how you work a 6 inch height differential.

Gosh that is a big age difference, must be some interesting stories about that lady.
I have met some that were older than stated, they think they got away with it because I said nothing.
But what are you supposed to say?

ah yes, I've met the man with the variable height too. Claims he was 5'9" on his profile and then looks me squarely in the eye in my flatties at 5'3". His alter egos claims he is 6'2". lol Doesn't bother me especially, but I do find it highly amusing.

I don't think men on height are necessarily lying. I don't think done realise they have lost height.

We measure the height and weights of elderly men and women. Most women have a fairly good idea of their height and are usually accurate with their weight. Men often haven’t got a clue about either.

I know my height and weight exactly, I can walk through most doorways without bending and so far the floorboards haven't given way under my weight. That's exact enough for me.

You think they can be genuinely mistaken by half a foot, Lyn?!! Not only that but their memory lapses so they are differently in error at different times? What about their Uni Degrees that are there one week and not the next? :):):)

col. blink,
is it the one who likes men with long hair ?

a couple of years younger for search purposes possibly, but 17yrs is, for me, taking the mickey.

I know my height within a couple of inches. My weight to the nearest stone as it’s only the pounds which vary. I sometimes have to think about the year I was born and calculate to get my age.

Cassie,

I'm sure men and women lie but I did have a guy in my surgery this week who had lost 6 cms. Of course the previous height may not be accurate but such height loss should be referred for a bone scan.

Men lie, women use poetic licence - it has always been thus...

Colonel. That’s an exceptional example but apart from the women’s lies about her age she must be looking good.

I don't think I've lied about my age...well apart from when I was 15 getting into pubs and things...

My height is 5' 10"....I've never tried to be over 6 foot....well, apart from the 70's wearing the 70's shoes with massive platform heel things....and flares...although I don't know what flares have got to do with it...

My weight....well, its best not to talk about my weight...Its up and down and up again...currently up....

My mugshot is me...although a couple of years old....I have a long Father Christmas white beard now....I look like Uncle Albert...

Nero,

What is "looking good".

A bit of rust but a reliable engine?

A prime looking classic with a dodgy suspension?

What is "looking good"

Different things to different people but in said instance it must mean looking young for her years.

A whole foot is a lot to loose. :)))

I've solved the whole problem. I don't look for dates as I would never meet the exacting standards of men online. Not that I think that there is anything wrong with me, as I am.
