Yes and May bought the DUP off with £10 billion if my memory serves me correctly.

Its amazing the money the Tories can find when they want to stay in power or win a general election...??

Thank you Michael for proving my point. I believe the left often like to see people suffer just so they can point the finger and blame someone else and pretend they would do better.

We are not amused

A post implying it was from me no doubt designed to stymie my debate with Michael or kill tumbleweed’s post regarding all the money going into the NHS from the Conservatives.

The NHS has always been and will continue to be a political football - it's sad really.
No amount of funding will ever be enough, you could plough ten times, even 50 times that £1.8 billion into it and there would still be people calling for more.
It's the nature of the beast I suppose, the bigger and better you make the NHS, the more often people will use it and the more burdened it becomes, so it needs more funding.
Then we see threads like the missed appointment one and it makes you realise how easily the NHS can be abused by those who apparently cherish it.
At the end of the day, we must remember that someone has to pay for all of this, whether the Government borrow the money or raise taxes....

Michaelt. Your memory serves you badly on this occasion. Mrs May’s negotiations with the DUP involved closer to £1billion and the money was to go into the NHS. So not so bad really.

Hierophant, We must remember that if we want the NHS fully up and running, we must realise that we have to pay the incomes taxes for this to happen...

That is true. To have workers paying tax to fund the NHS we need good investment in business and no interfering unions shutting down businesses and creating unemployment. Once again we don't want Labour.

Boris Johnson promised the NHS £350 million extra per week. £1.8 Billion will only cover about 5 weeks. Wheres the rest? They still manage to grin whilst openly discussing the end of the UK. Brexit will haunt the Tories in the same way as the Suez crisis did. If you break international law by pretending not to have to follow rules, you will be a pariah state, full stop. It’s a sad but fitting ending for the little English ruling class.

It's only there if it suits your agenda witheflow....As it doesn't suit you, then it's not there...

In the title of the thread it mentions the Theresa May pledge....that is the one that was pledged last year, and more than covers the 350 million a week...

I have mentioned it a few times on various threads...It is on the gov.uk website....for all to see...except yourself, it seems...

First Michael and now Witheflow. They would rather see all society suffer as long as the Tories can still be vilified for something. Even an imaginary something will do. They can’t stand it when a Tory does something which they can’t whinge about so they bring up all sorts of arguments rather than congratulate them on making a good decision and a very welcome decision for the NHS.
I can’t stand Boris but I still say well done on this occasion.

I'm glad the NHS is getting more money, or is it really new money? Some in the NHS are saying that this is money that they've already had and saved but haven't been allowed to spend yet by the government. Heiro's right there will never be enough money for that we could do, but I think what the NHS does on a comparitively small budget is amazing. What the NHS really needs is more staff, we can have all the fancy units in the world and there worth nothing if theres not the staff to care for patients and all the people we don't see, like the lab workers processing our blood tests, preparing our meds, cooking our food and cleaning, especially the specialist cleaning of operating rooms.

With all these spending pledges I think Boris must have found the Holy Grail of politics, The Magic Money Tree.

Michaelt  Male  Devon 5-Aug-2019 20:21 Message #4747620
wonderoushen, This is an election bribe. What the NHS needs is more money on a regular bases. The Tories have been underfunding the NHS for decades getting it ready for privatisation. Dont forget it was Margaret Thatcher who privatised our utilities, and it was John Major who privatised our railways...

In response to Tumbleweed. I have no agenda and "whats there" you refer to? If your talking about the Magic money tree (Just before an election), then yes! it's always there. Just as there was £1.5 Trillion to bail out the greedy failing tory bankers in 2008. This is one big game, designed to fool the sheeple. Surely your not as gullible as most Tumble. Tell me your playing Devils advocate and just stirring the waters. Because sure as night follows day, these privelaged elitist liars, are pulling your plonkers again.

I appreciate you have lots of time on your hands Tumble. And playing games passes your time. But, Say what you mean and mean what you say Alice. Cabal and free market ideology are oxymorons. Free markets have never been free. They all become rigged by the greedy. I strive for fairness and equality. But some are happy in their privileged selfish bubbles.

Hotorwot. Why are you trolling this debate? Is it because you can't find a meaningful response to the arguments being debated? Get with it man. Defend your indoctrinated stance on election bribes. At least then I will engage with you more. But churlishness reveals someone who has lost the argument.
