i think Beach was hoping for an award or two. A bit like the Oscars! Although he probably deserves some of those titles.

Mind you, that should mean that loads of people would answer them, as only the insane are left on here...

I think you need to be careful offering "Most sexy member" as an option. I predict a flurry of indecent profile photos from keen competitors!

Let me explain my motive(s) before expanding this reply.

In light of the recent, negative, troll related issues, I wanted to rally regular, long term, members. I wanted to provide an opportunity for the community to voice and express their endorsement of Midsummer and its membership by offering comment on ALL the contributors who have made themselves known on these pages.

The idea was to encourage YOU to give 'awards' and credence to the various contributors who fill these pages and forums.

That's all it was. That's all I was attempting to do.

---

Mancers. "He’s back on the pop."

I regard that comment as, particularly, offensive.

I take Warfarin … for a life threatening but perfectly manageable illness. It means that I can't party or go out or drink alcohol at the drop of a hat the way many of you folks will be able to do. Rather, I have to plan any nights out, way in advance, based on my INR readings … which occur, usually, after any two week period. Meaning; while any of you may view any weekend as some, potential, time to let off steam and / or go out and party, I have to plan ahead and can't just go out on the razzle at a moments notice.

My life is different. :-(

After a week or 10 days not knowing if my blood levels are safe or otherwise, I take my INR readings seriously.

A negative result means a further week I have to live my life as an effing saint! Whereas a positive reading means I can feel comfortable enough to go out and have a few beers.

For me, this means that I, sometimes, get a window of opportunity to "go on the pop" about once in anything from a 7 to 14 day period … with some results reducing such an opportunity to a month or so and sure, that restriction, that limitation means that, by the time the day arrives when I can socialise and have a few beers, … well … it feels like Christmas!

So … to read such a comment from Mancers was disappointing. :-(

Though it doesn't change my mindset.

OF COURSE … I want to go out, socialise and / or get a bit relaxed or tipsy … and you would, also, if you were living in my shoes.

I apologise if my interaction on this site offends you … either sober, (99% of the time) OR when I'm, very rarely, tipsy BUT to be judged for an occasion that is, to me a, hard won, hard fought, opportunity to go out and socialise, is, in my view, a below the belt, comment.

NO. I don't have cancer. NO. I don't have a condition that rules out socialising at all BUT, of course … of course I'm going to socialise and party whenever the opportunity allows.

The funniest thing?

We don't know …. We'll never know … BUT … my detractors .. the people that criticize my life?

I might ask …

DO THEY EVEN HAVE A SOCIAL LIFE?

Are they as blessed as myself to have as big a band of people around them as I have?

DO THEY HAVE A PLACE IN SOME WONDERFUL SOCIAL SETTING THAT INCLUDES SCORES/ HUNDREDS OF FRIENDS AND FRIENDSHIPS? (As I have).

Or are they living in skanky towns or a community where few people even chat or acknowledge or encourage friendship or community?

You guys know me.

You people know I am blessed to live in a fantastic and loving community where the troubles and woes of modern life barely touch my little West Dorset market town.

Sure. You can take the pee out of me all you like.

Snipe at my very existence.

Do all you need to do to try to knock me down.

But, before you do any of that …

Look at and consider your own lives … and reflect on that life.

"back on the pop" infers … well … whatever.

OK. It's a comment from … well … we don't know where such a comment comes from … other than a stranger we have never met SO, yes, I guess I shouldn't take it personally.

But …

My view?

RAACH is our most sensible member. She is, IMO, also our most understanding member … and, possibly our most sexy member. (But she isn't going to be impressed with that last tag).

HEN is our most insightful member. Wonderous also qualifies as the most intellectual contender.

I'd say that Joolsy was our most dramatic member. :-)

Most political member has to be Andy. (No longer with us).

Most frightening member would be A man called CHIOG. His questions remind me of a scammer wishing to know about all your private details. (SERIOUSLY. He asks about favourite pets, favourite names, favourite or favourite that - all the sort of common questions that any scammer would request from a victim trying to work out potential passwords or details to crack their own personal or financial info).

Most surreal member remains ORSON, (whom I love).

Most disturbing member would be Jeff.

Most sincere members would include RAACH, Aely, Joolsy, Sunnysideup and Eccentrica.

And, yeah, most sexy member remains Eccentrica. (If you don't know or remember her then that is your own loss).

Your turn?

And just for the record, Mancers …

Just because I'm responding to a Midsummer post at 01.55, DOESN'T mean I'm "on the pop".

It just means its 01.55.

Night , night. xx

In my humble opinion I don’t think mancers comment was meant to be offensive. It’s the sort of throwaway comment often used when someone rambles a bit or lies back and reflects on life. It’s often after a glass or two of something alcoholic that a melancholy post can appear. It could almost be a complement Beach!

Beach. Perhaps you are the most complex member.

The quietest member ummm who could that be?

MrQuiet  Male  Northamptonshire 13-Jul-2019 07:26 Message #4744899
Just spotted something Beach. Should you be accusing a member of being a scammer? I would have been more likely to give Chiog one of the awards for perseverance.

Joolsy could always be counted on to make me laugh.

I agre with you about Jeff and Orson.

I like most of you, the ones I really dislike have been blocked, I don't really like playing favourites.

Thank you for voting me most insightful and intellectual member, I do enjoy a good argument rather than a row and there have been to many people giving each other rows recently, everyone is so on edge because of all the trolls that they seem to be accusing people of being trolls when maybe its just a normal personality clash. I think deep breaths need to be taken and necks wound in before somebody busts a blood vessel and makes a mess.

Aye. OK Beach - like the idea and would go along with most of the nominations so far.
However, I do reckon that comparisons tend to be invidious - so please excuse me if I sit this one out.
