My best friend in school was Katie so I was referred to as Katiebubbles due to my curly or bubbly hair. My old school friends still refer to me in this was. At least they all know they're talking about the right Katie.

I haven’t had a nickname until recently when I was christened FoodBank Larry. I told them this at the FoodBank Friday and we had a good laugh but now I keep getting called Larry.

FAITHY  Female  North Yorkshire 7-Jul-2019 20:13 Message #4744127
My nickname now is Faithy due to have been Adam Faith's number one fan! I called my last little dog the same name. But when I was at school the boys called me Lambreta and Lamberger Gessler (He was in the series that was on TV then called "William Tell" many moons ago.) This was due to my surname!!! I do have a friend who has nicknamed me Tigger as he says that I am so bouncy!!!

I thought of this thread because this year I was christened with a new nickname and the guy who invented it has used it again today.

Foodbank Larry

Oddly enough I think I was christened out of malice but I told some of the guys I work with and it’s caught on and there’s no going back now. Actually most of my work is with the Homeless and someone pointed out if I had been christened Homeless Harry everyone would think I had nowhere to live.

My initials made up my first nickname as a teenager. (I'll not be sharing that info here online though). Later, with a different crowd, I was Sam because I drove the Sams dry cleaning van in my very early 20's though one friend still calls me that name even now. By the 80's, I was Houdini, named by fellow inventors and innovators for my nerve, my staying power and my ability to ignore the statistics and actually make it in the hellish scarey cash consuming environment of innovation. Then cockney Steve, an official giant, because he was 6ft 7", he told me), nicknamed me Pete, because of my, apparent, uncanny likeness to comedian Peter Cook. :-)

And whenever the annoying Steve and I were waiting to stagger into the nightclub at the weekend, he would always tell the cashier to hurry up and "Just let Pete through for free" ... "Cos he's Peter Cook and he's been dead 15 years!" lol
