Better than men to watch? Fewer fouls? Get up a lot quicker after a tumble?

The women are more exciting to watch than the men and I hope it becomes even more popular.

I know nothing about football but a friend compared it to under 11's football on a Sunday morning over the local park...

It's becoming big over the last 10 years or so...and it's about to get bigger...if we beat USA in the semis of the World Cup...Prepare for the country to go wild...and then if we win the final...wow

There are some great players at the top level, and an ex England Mens player managing them...

Come on you Girls...

Women could play football in stilettos and still wouldn’t fall over as often as the men.

I'm not a football fan at all, but when I am sitting and a game is on and it's women playing, I'm only looking for the best looking girls to watch. Not interested in them kicking a ball around.

I hope they do well right enough, and I wish people would stop saying they deserve the same wages as the male football players...

Oh and if they do win... please leave their man bashing, feminist whinging out of it, it would spoil it I think.

And no doubt waiting to see the shirt swapping at the end of the match !!

Why don't they deserve the same wages as male footballers? just wondering..
or turn that on it's head and ask, why not pay male footballers the same as female footballers?

Dustybin  Male  Suffolk 1-Jul-2019 09:39 Message #4743098
They don't attract the same crowds. Man Utd have 60,000 spectators for every home match paying - I dunno - at least 60 quid each for a seat. Then there is the Sky Tv money which is millions.

One day maybe but it is a long way off.

Oh! Does that happen? Never watch to the end, usually switch over to Great Canal Journeys, or a documentary on the diet of the red backed tree frog.

When does Russia play Columbia again? I'll watch that to the end hehehehehe

Because the female footballers aren't as good. The world standard of female football, isn't even on par with under 15s boys! Go Google the Australian national team of women got thrashed by school kids. As did the American team.

Why make it a gender thing Terry? Why don't men deserve the same wages as men? Why doesn't the striker for Falkirk United get paid the same as Messi or Ronaldo? Why? They are all male, so we can't cry sexism... it's because of their skill and the fact people are willing to go in there droves, and pay to watch world class.

Why should we care when women don't get paid the same as men for a similar but lesser job, so to speak? Do feminists who claim to fight for equality care when male models, and male porn stars don't get same wages as females? No, they don't... why? Because in the porn industry women are the stars, so they get paid more... football is the same... kind of lol

Why don't England's women play against England's men, men win they keep their wages, women keep theirs. Women win they swap wages... Would that settle this?

Also, why don't women go and pay extortionate amounts of money to watch women play, the way men do to watch men's football? Women need to bear more of the blame for the... for the... for the... "popularity gap", or the "revinue gap" we seem to see in football.

A perceptive summing up of many a man’s take on women’s footie.

Ok a boys team can beat a woman's international football team. But that is no reason women's football cannot in time be a really big attraction. The Wimbledon Women's Tennis Final will get a packed house at top prices. Women's athletics gets top crowds etc.

And shirt swapping jokes are just a bit old and tired nowadays.

Yes I agree. If the revenue is there, and they want to pay women more fine. Saying they are just as good as the men however is a non starter for a debate.

"The Wimbledon Women's Tennis Final will get a packed house at top prices. Women's athletics gets top crowds etc."

So why doesn't women's football get packed houses, at top prices? Could it be, and I'm just putting this out there, could it be that men prefer to watch men's game, and women aren't interested in football?

"And shirt swapping jokes are just a bit old and tired nowadays."

I'd disagree there. I think Drongos line on shirt swapping was very amusing. I'd even go as far to say, if they did get their kit off at the end, it may get more viewership.

Tonights the night...Come on you England...

With regards to the women not being paid the same etc...well there are about 20 tiers of Mens football in this country...From the elite Premier League as the top tier, down to the 20th tier, which as you go down levels, branches out into more of a pyramid, resulting in many thousands of teams etc..

I'm not actually sure where the top Womens teams would fit into the Mens tiers, but they wouldn't be anywhere near the top level.

In the Mens game, it is only the top level that get paid mega money...the 2nd level still get more than you average wage, by quite a long way, but not mega stuff...The 4th level get perhaps double the average wage...The 5th level and beyond are only part time and get very little...the lower levels have to pay subs to play...

Various reasons why the Womens game is not on a par with the mens...Height, Weight being a couple of things...Most goalies now are over 6ft, and Centre Forwards etc...The women will not be that height very often.

But playing at their own level, their own elite Womens level for instance, makes for some good football...and the all important atmosphere...and nail biting 'Englanditis'...

Good luck tonight...

Joking apart. I’ve watched some of the first half of England v USA women’s football. Pity USA are in front but I’ve been impressed with the play. I have seen premiership matches less skilful and more boring.
Well done ladies.

Arsenal fan then Colonel?
I think womens football is great.
Remember not so long back, woman had no real chance to play.
But now they have international tournaments.
Got to be good.

I watched the match and enjoyed it. Both teams played well but USA had the edge and their players are amazingly fit and athletic. I hope we see a lot more woman playing football.

It's fairly standard for those proposing a motion for debate/discussion to state THEIR PoV on the matter.

Don't you think it's about time YOU adopted that procedure, or do you prefer to throw in Ground Bait and watch the fish fight amongst themselves over your largess?

Didnt you just say the same thing on another topic. I wrote you are arrogant on that thread and I say the same on this one. I believe a lot more members read and comment on Chiog's posts than read yours and I for one enjoy his topics which unlike some trolls vary on their subject.
