Singles holidays

Price rise?

Is it my imagination of have singles holidays really risen in price this year? I'm paying about 50% more for my summer holiday although the only extras I'll have to pay for once I'm there will be snacks at lunch time, water and souvenirs to bring home for people.

Best not to book so called singles holidays and just book flight and go. Companies do tend to load prices on.

Depends on what you look for in a holiday.
Singles holiday companies are great if you don't particularly want to spend the entire time on your own. Yes you pay a premium, but then single travelers generally do.

I usually go with singles holidays companies and you're right Buggane, they are good value for money but the prices have really jumped this year.

The singles holiday co's usually make a big thing about not charging a single supplement. But it's not hard to work out that's only because the prices are already heavily loaded to include the penalty for someone that's travelling alone.

Have you compared it to the price of other holidays?

I'm wondering if all holiday companies have ramped up their prices in case the pound suffers due to the Brexit situation.

I always book my own flights, accommodation and hire car for Europe, and I can tell you that it has become very expensive, especially with the weakness of the pound against the euro.
For countries that I would feel less safe on my own, I some times travel with a specialist nature tour company and their prices have gone through the roof. I compared with other similar companies and I noticed the same.
Brexit may be the main reason, but I think you are also seeing an industry wide increase in cost for travel.
I think the only way you could beat it, is to have a staycation instead.

Brexit has pushed prices up but if it keeps all the holidaymakers in the UK that will be a win/win for the Brexiteers.

We ought to arrange a group holiday some time!

I'm lucky to live on the fabulous West Dorset Jurassic Coast which really does have a bit of everything. I'm up at 5am cycling along the coastline and across the fields. It is relaxing and uncomplicated with everything I would need from a holiday break anywhere else.

A group holiday! Yikes, my idea of hell. I go on holiday to relax.

I have holidayed alone in the past but with a local coach company so was lucky to get a deal every time.

I resent the single supplement of rooms... I can understand paying a bit more if a single is taking up a double room but to pay a supplement for a room the size of a shoe box is unjust. !!

How many people here have actually been on a singles holiday? Was it good? Bad? What are the pros and cons?
