Happy 'Pancake Day' to you all,

What are you having / did you have on yours ?

I fancy gooseberries and ice cream (I had one once I(years ago) in a 'Little Chef' on the A1)

Trouble is I aint got any goosgogs! :-(

so will have to settle for sugar n lemon juice on one, and golden syrup on tother! :-)

Not a fan of pancakes myself, but I am having a toad in the hole tonight which uses milk and eggs in a similar way.

It's a sad sign of the times (and commercialism) that it is now just Pancake Day rather than Shrove Tuesday and the reason why it falls the day before Ash Wednesday the 1st day of Lent.

I made savoury pancakes for my grandchildren and the 8 year-old made a compote to go with her dessert pancakes.

I was quite impressed that she actually knew the word, let alone knew how to make it!

Mmmm I love pancakes and shall be partaking thereof
Though tomorrow is no different for me, I start every day with buttermilk pancakes covered in maple syrup, fresh blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, banana, and double cream. Yum, and keeps me going for about 5 hours:)

Whoops, I was a day late for statutory pancake day!

I made pancakes yesterday as i do every year. My son loved my pancakes ha ha and it is the only day
we seem to eat together. He sits on the seat near to where i am cooking pancakes so he can have
them straight away nice and hot. He even made me a chocochino caramel dulce-gusto coffee pod
So we both can enjoy that together. We had bananas, maple syrup, sugar and lemon. He always makes
the last pancake so i can enjoy my last pancake. Lol
Yes it was a good evening. Lol

Ps. Who did the washing up :) you guessed it 'me. Ha ha

I always knew it as pancake day when I was a child, I don't think its commercialism but that we're increasingly a secular or non-Christian society, I think its entirely likely that the idea of no milk or eggs for a month or so was pre-Christian. Chickens go broody at this time of year, sheep and goats have their young and they need the milk, theres not so much new food around at this time of year, a few things like nettle shoots maybe, but the majority of food will be saved from the previous growing season and probably running low, fasting makes sense at this time of year for all sorts of reasons.

I was just saying that's all.
Any road up less than 6 weeks to "chocolate eggs, bunnies and baby yellow chicks Day." !!
