I'm in the money!

Premium Bond win

Wow, not only the £10 Christmas Bonus and the Winter Fuel Allowance but I have had a win on the Premium Bonds!

I almost cleaned out the Bonds 5 years ago when I needed the money to buy the house. Just a couple of hundred left now, in dribs and drabs, including £1 bonds bought in the 1970s, and this is the one win in that 5 years. Only £25 but amazingly it works out at about 50 times the interest I would have got if the money had been in my bank's savings account at the current interest rate! I have a couple of hundred or so in that account and it is paying a munificent 3p per month.

Apparently each Premium Bond number should have an equal chance of winning each month, so one would have thought that the £1 bonds bought in Sep '63 & Jan '72 might have had a win by now!
Especially as, amazingly, twice this year I have had a win on different numbers that have come up before
Apr '18/Oct '05 & Aug '18/Apr '04.

Over the years I have had quite a lot of wins with premium bonds.

In November this year I won £500.

Better than what the bank is paying me in interest.

I advise you to invest it wisely by sending it immediately to P.O. Box 1, Nigeria, East Sussex.

My other half has had quite a few wins, but I have not had any, and some I have had for 40 years +

Waste of time !. Much better to buy some shares, but study them for a few months first.

I started buying premium bonds a long time ago as my burial plan.

What's the point in saving with those insurance companies and burial plan companies where the small print at the bottom says because of inflation and admin charges you might not get back as much as you put in.

Might as well save it yourself.

Quite an excellent idea Barney, and, of course your executor/trix can keep them for a year after ypur death - just in case "you" still win - although you wont be able to enjoy it if u r six "blinkin" feet under !!!

I’ve had three wins of £25 I. 2019. That will probably be my lot for the rest of the year!

Certainly hope so.
It'll mean more a better chance of a win for the rest of us.
