A thoughtful gift given or received at any time of the year brings pleasure to both parties. Even if people are unaware of the religious significance (the bringing of gifts by the Magi to the child, Jesus) it can't be a bad thing. A bit of give, give, give instead of take, take, take in an otherwise selfish world.

thats interesting aely,
i like the spanish system where xmas eve is the big day for familys, the eating a big meal xmas eve etc,
christmas days about the church side of it
and the gifts are given out 6th january , "the kings day" but doesnt seem the same fuss as christmas day uk style,
