I wonder ladies, what it means to you when you receive a dozen red roses on Valentine's day?
Minnie-the-Minx  Female  Hertfordshire 11-Feb-2017 18:56 Message #4677296
Depends who bought them and why. If they were from a lover, that would be rather nice.

Who's the lucky lady then, Chris?

a dozen red roses ( or pink/white/yellow) would be nice on any day let alone Valentines...
joolsy  Female  Essex 11-Feb-2017 19:22 Message #4677300
I would be happy with a bunch of stalks if the was given with real love and affection lol
Eschifer  Female  Cheshire 11-Feb-2017 19:28 Message #4677301
Very special, that's how I would feel.

Although the day itself doesn't bother me, I do get pangs of jealousy seeing all the pretty flowers and gifts posted up on facebook.

I'd settle for a chocolate freddo right now

A bed of roses, true.
Soft pastel petals' fragrance crowns
The stems where thorns grow too!"

yet, someone may suddenly get romantic and surprise me! who knows.

jennifer  Female  Gloucestershire 12-Feb-2017 08:19 Message #4677336
So funny, snow and gentle!

I would think it was the florist delivery person knocked on my door to take the flowers in for a neighbour! How very sad!!!

I always try to buy a dozen roses on Valentines. They aren't just flowers. They show a sense of appreciation. A compliment. A cause for a smile. Roses are traditional of course and I would be lying if I said I'd always bought them but we learn more with age along with the ability to read more into life than what we merely see.

I remember how I felt when on Father's Day when my first son was born I received nothing. No card. No gift - a sweet fat nothing. My wife at the time told me she had never bought her Dad a father's day card and so thought it wasn't needed. I felt shattered to be frank. Totally ignored and less than appreciated.

A card means everything. Flowers and gifts less so. But just to be acknowledged and appreciated creates that inner smile. A Valentine's card is so nice of course, but how much more so a nice bunch of flowers, and the smile they create within.

Happy Valentines's day to all for Tuesday!

usuallyLaura  Female  Devon 12-Feb-2017 17:48 Message #4677462

get yourself along to m+s, you can get 12 red roses for... £5 !!!

ok there are better ones i.e. bigger but m + s can do it for a fiver and usually m+s flowers are nice.

so no millionaires needed !
JEM95  Female  Oxfordshire 12-Feb-2017 17:49 Message #4677463
If I received roses, then my suitor wouldn't know me very well - I don't like them :-(

Having said that, it's the thought that counts and I'd be happy with a bunch of daffodils!
sunnyagain  Female  Hampshire 12-Feb-2017 18:07 Message #4677470
I've never managed to keep roses alive for even a day so only someone who didn't know me would buy them for me.
