I was chatting with someone on facebook this evening about how men and women can approach each other on MSE. Put simply, If you fancy someone what do you do about it. Now its easy for men. They can lead and steer the conversation eventually leading into a date and that’s perfectly acceptable. But what about the ladies. What do you do when you read a profile, see a photo and think Hmm I like the look of him. Now what do you do. Maybe try and get his attention with a virtual kiss or hug. What do you do girls?

In the days that I did that kind of thing, I used to send a short chatty PM to say hello and introduce myself. Almost without exception, I got the brush off, which eventually gave me the impression that men actually prefer to do the chasing, whatever they say. That's when they bothered to reply, at all.

I don't look for men I "fancy", but men and women I find friendly, interesting who might like to share time doing what friends do. If I see something in a message or on a profile that enable a pleasant exchange of words then I will make first contact with no other expectations.

"Almost without exception, I got the brush off"
Thats shocking Minnie! Personally I would always reply to a personal message. I am forever in the debt of the first lady who sent one to me. Being new to this I wasn't sure of protocol etc. I was really touched her nice message, and on re-reading I had a light-bulb moment "so that's how you do it".
However don't expect a speedy reply, even the short nonsense I write is put together slowly, and re-written at least once!

It's perfectly acceptable for women to do the same.

If the communication flows naturally, there shouldn't really be a need to "steer" at all..

Personally it seems that a "Sizeable proportion" of female MSE members are not on this site to meet men at all. Given the topics posted and their frequent complaints about male contrivutions to the threads, men seem to be the last thing they want on the site.

It's the leg humping and leg cocking that's off-putting, Choo Hoo!

Ah but the doggy tounge option is welcome oneofakink :-*

However the O/P does have a point who do women interact (When allowed)...

I usually find they acknowladge someone on a thread and it starts from there or you find someone has veiwed your profile several times which is usually a good start.

Lol on D/A once I had this female view my profile again and again and again. After I started receing winks and kisses I realised she may not actually be looking for the Block button at all and might be interested.

Me being shy left it but the winks and kisses kept comming so I pm'd her...

"you're hard work" or words to that effect was the comment. And that was the last PM I got. Apparantly she did it to many other men and was just after attention.
