I see some local cinemas are showing Breakfast at Tiffany's on Valentine's Day. Ok, I know it's romantic but imho it's a really cr*p film. And Audrey Hepburn may have been beautiful but she was not that good an actress.
So why do they dig out Breakfast at Tiffany's on Valentine's Day and ask people to spend £8 + to see it?

I really like Breakfast at Tiffany's, by choice not sure I want to see it at the cinema tho'. It's always been more of a movie to enjoy at home - cuddle or just relax. It's an enjoyable non-taxing movie.
If I was with someone, and they wanted to see it at the cinema, I wouldn't have a problem. Again it's an enjoyable movie and being able to relax and enjoy it in the presence of someone I cared for, money well spent.
Now a double bill (ooh, remember them?) with Brief Encounter, that really becomes tempting - thats the evening sorted - duh I forgot, need someone to go with ;-)

cg, Brief Encounter was the first example that came to mind, I'm a sucker for b&w, but any old cozy movie would do. For v day its all about feeling, sharing and being with someone.

It was a wonderful film - a classic. Audrey Hepburn certainly wasnt the best actress around , but then neither was Marilyn Monroe. But she did have charisma and 'star quality' which seems to be sadly lacking in most of todays actresses.
