if you have a baby does it mean that you have lost the use of your legs ? they use pushchairs so why do they have to be nearby ?
would it be fairer to allocate elderly (not disabled) spaces instead ? a lot of elderly people are not disabled but do have some difficulty walking and carrying shopping.
and what about for the really obese ? they have difficulty walking too...

I thought the point of mother and baby parking spaces were that they are wider to enable parent to be able to safely get a child from car to pushchair without having to stand in traffic .
I can't see why they have to be nearer to the store .

The mother and baby spaces are more about room for getting the baby into the pushchair I think.
Not letting the toddler get run over while you're struggling getting the stroller out of the boot while child is unsupervised - with more space you get it to the side of the car while said child is still strapped in.

There's loads of mother and baby parking spaces in various car parks around me and they are invariably empty..
Why take you baby shopping with you anyway? Most parents forget they have them and I'm stick of repairing a showroom after mummy's little angel has wrecked it.
Personally I would ban children under a certain age from retail parks full stop and have repeated offenders shot.
I would also suggest that there should be "proffesional tax payers only" parking spots right next to the entrance and a special till purely for our use.

wasnt this subject covered recently with the disabled spaces car parking ?

Some time ago Pete, I think admin removed it when it got nasty lol.

Why don't they make all parking spaces the same size so you can actually open the doors, it would be so much simpler.
I'm sure these architects think we all still drive around in tiny Ford Prefects from the 1950's...

The additional space is negated by the parents parking the shopping trolly behind the 4x4 and the kids running round with the car park with the push chair.

As space costs money and its usually free parking at these supermarkets, I suppose if the planners gave us all wider spaces , there would have to be a charge , and that wouldnt go down at all well, would it ?.

Costco seem to manage ok...

Asda at South Soodham Ferrers has lots of those and disabled places. It's very frustrating when I want to park and can't find a space while loads of those are empty. Woe betide any one else who parks there though!
Local Co Op isn't quite so bad.

I see more able bodied people (Useless slugs), use disabled and mother/child parking area's than anybody else. These people should have hot pokers rammed up their rear and SLUGS branded on there foreheads.

Personally I would like to see parking spaces reserved exclusively for Trolls.

Imagine the size of the removed thread and spam park at MSE HQ

Anyway TC if you paid ya tax's, you wouldn't need a parking space the driver would drop you at the door surely!!!

The strange thing is, that the Mums use the toddler parking bays for the safety of the child, but then get the kids out on the road side when out on the streets. I see it every time on my travels.
|
|
|
well that's the thing ... is it for the safety of the kiddie ? if it were why would the same Mum get the kiddie out on the roadside and park so close to the school's entrance too ??? I have seen Mums go by car when its actually quicker walking or it would be if they didnt park on top of the school entrance.. when I lived in Hertfordshire there was a Mum with two kiddies in our close. The nearest legal parking was in our close which only had 8 houses in it so it wasn't far.
the cynic in me thinks its probably laziness and nothing to do with child safety. perhaps they should test it and have the mother and child spaces a bit further away from the shop.

I have NEVER EVER seen a mother & baby parking option anywhere!

I thought they were wider so kids don't throw open the door and catch the car next to it.

Parents’ parking permit
Do you struggle to get a parking space when shopping at Tesco? Pop your parents’ parking permit in your car window and you can use parent and child spaces closer to the store. Your permit will be sent to you as part of your first mailing from Tesco Baby & Toddler Club.

melo...possibly. trouble is my car is longer than the bay as well so no kids but the bay is too short and too narrow.

I once damaged a blokes newly sprayed car when heavily pregnant and leaning in the car to fasten my young son in the toddler seat. As I knelt on the back seat my foot kicked the door outwards. He was just coming back to his car and was absolutely livid as he'd just got it back from the body shop that day and the paint mustn't have fully hardened.
My ex just kept his head down and continued loading the shopping in the boot while I apologised profusely.

Lol I thought the reason the spaces were wider is because the kids and the parents are so damn fat! lol lol.

melo...you mean that you didnt offer to have it resprayed ?
I saw someone get back to there car which had a dent and get very angry. the note they were waiving in the air said...'people saw me so I'm leaving a note.. ooops sorry' he wasnt pleased cos there was no contact details
