What would be yours??

Nigh impossible to choose one.
But this would be near the top of any list.
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. Roberta Flack, written by Ewan MacColl.

|
My Funny Valentine - most versions, vocal, or instrumental. Fabulous song.
Yep FIFTHGEAR, agree with you there and Killing Me Softly (also Roberta Flack).

|
|
woman in love ...barbara streisand

I am not in love - Joan Armatrading. Makes my knees go weak
|
|
|
Fifth Gear, Nicollette, I love Roberta Flach, especially her duets with Peabo Bryson.
Mancab, Barbra Streisand is a superb choice. I like that song.
honeybun, that's a nice song. Can you believe it, I used to associate Joan Armatrading's songs with Elvis'. Maybe it's the husky back up singers.

There must be hundreds of nominations for this

For me the most romantic song is a tie between "If you could read my mind" by Gordon Lightfoot from 1971. And "Sometimes when we touch " by Dan Hill from 1978. Both are very good loves songs and I can't decide which is better. "A winters tale" by David Essex from 1978 is also one of my favourites too.

Mine comes from wayback and is likely well known for this nomination!

For me, these lyrics say it all, especially the chorus
Across the miles
It's funny to me
How far you are but now
Near you seem to be
I could talk all night
Just to hear you breathe
I could spend my life
Just living this dream
You're all I'll ever need
You give me strength
You give me hope
You give me someone to love someone to hold
When I'm in your arms
I need you to know
I've never been
I've never been this close
With all the lovers
I used to know
I kept my distance I never let go
But in your arms I know I'm safe
'Cause I've never been held
And I've never been kissed in this way
You're all I'll ever need
You're all I'll ever need
Close enough to see it's true
Close enough to trust in you
Closer now than any words can say
And when, when I'm in your arms,
I need you to know I've never been
I've never been this close
You give me strength
You give me hope
You give me someone to love someone to hold
When I'm in your arms
I need you to know
I've never been
I've never been
I've never been
I've never been this close

Some interesting choices there, some of which I have never listened to before, so a good eye(ear!) opener for me.
Oooh, GG I love Shania Twain, and that one's one of my favourites.
JJ, I like some of Westlife. Queen of my Heart comes to mind. ;-)
