Lol I asked Nick Pope what he thought of M. Wolfes revelations on a radio phone in once. His reply was 'interesting if true' so I suggest he didn't exactly have much time for him.
Catchers of Heaven was supposed to be based on fact, but the reason why I wrote this thread is to see the reaction of your average MSE'r if it really did happen.

Lol I think a lot of people feel the same way and although the truth may not be as spectacular as we would like to imagine, there is certainly something we do need to be told.
The person I refered to on Jasons thread Micheal Wolf, is an interesting charactor and was supposadly exposed back in 2009 as a Walter Mitty type person who suffered from Mental Illness. If that's the case he's got a great care worker because his book sold a fair few copies lol lol lol..

As for your original question:
I would react with complete and utter scepticism!
All the evidence that I have accumulated re Extraterrestrial Intelligent Life seems to indicate that it is more likely to NOT exist than to exist but the latter option has to remain a possibility.
If it did exist then its home planet would be too far away for us to have any practical communication with it, and too far away for either them or us to travel to the 'other' world.
Yeah, I know there are some who are tempted to say "Well our scientists don't know everything and the Aliens may have the technology to overcome these 'minor' drawbacks." - And my response to that would be "Stop dreaming and show me some evidence - the laws of physics are universal and just because you can point to the ignorance of our past doesn't mean that you can extrapolate on that to say that we are still in such a state of ignorance today."

I'm with Jason on this one - IF, and lets face it it's a massive, massive IF, extra terrestrial life did exist the distances involved would make any kind of contact all but impossible. To me all these stories of contact are so much hot air, ET decides to visit but he/she/it is shy??? Or picks up some loopy person and does naughty things to 'em before dropping them back again. Or the government knows but they're keeping shtum - how many people would know? It's another one of those conspiracy theories by the sound of it. It would but lovely if ET and his pals did pop round if only to borrow some sugar or a tea bag but can't see it meself.

Jason, you will never get anywhere till you at least TRY and think out of the box.
It's more than possible they live on a very close planet, masked by superior tech, possibly masking any means of identification.
There may be no evedence of this (for you) but not, i believe, out of the realms of posibility.

Mind you though it doesn't explain how or why the classic image of an ET has been painted across many different cultures who would not neccesarily have any modern contact with each other...

I'm with Jason and given the size of the galaxy if we had visitors they would have to have set off before we existed. Given the way we treat our planet if we did get a visit from a higher intelligence I imagine the first thing they would do would be get out their aerosols and exterminate us for the nasty destructive infestation that we are.
