Is this the tear-jerkingest song ever written?

I've been having a whale (should that be "wail"?) of a time on YouTube up to now - inbetween all the chores that I start and couldn't be bothered to finish.

I came across this song which was a hit here in 1980 (or was it 1981) - during the height of the CB Radio craze - link to follow.

It certainly brought a lump to my throat and almost made my eyes leak !

What would you nominate as the tear-jerkingest song ever?

Orson imagines this requires a subjective response. In Orson's view there are a few such songs which spring to mind, should Orson wish to empty a box of tissues weeping, which he does not. Well perhaps only when Orson thinks that Jacqueline Pearce and he will never be wed...sniff.

Accordingly, here are Orson's choices;

Hang On To A Dream by Tim Hardin

Main Travelled Roads by Doll By Doll

The Bed by Lou Reed

Frankie Teardrop by Suicide

Nowhere To Go by Anthony Moore

Afterwards by Van Der Graaf Generator

Been Alone So Long by Peter Hammill

A Childs Christmas In Wales by John Cale

Julia by Pavlov's Dog

Lol Georgie- Girl

Mother of my is a family song esp the line "I'd Like to do, what you did for me, Mother Sweet Mother of mine"

My sister would sing it to her but sing "what you did to me...smash a plate over your head"

Long story, but made me chuckle x

No tears here, Argonaut, but it is a reminder that we should try to help people with troubles worse than our own.

No...not a tear jerker for me. It got on my nerves...

For me it has to be Rolf Harris - Two Little Boys.
