I really don't mind if people are curious enough to look at my profile...
But I wonder why so many look off line..what do they have to hide? I have had 4 today...
If i want to look at anyone I just look ..whatever the consequences

A bit of a carrot for the donkey.
these people havent joined so cant 'sign in' by allowing them a glimpse of what might be available, those in charge hope to draw in new members.
there is nothing sinister in it

However I have heard that some people do log off to look at others so they remain anonymous..gawd knows why though

Surely if you log off to look at a profile you would have to do a search
and would need to know which county they lived in,
Seems a bit of a long way round.

You usually find that the people that are viewer counter watching will be putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 10..

Just logged off and tried it,
had to fill in all the search details,
and yup, had a look at my own profile, not very exciting.

Im afraid i havent found anybody on this site, exciting enough to want to go to all the trouble of logging out to view their profile.

I have logged off to look at someone's profile before, particularly after one member complained to me about looking at their profile.
Simplest way of looking without being logged in is to have a thread open that the person has contributed to.
Right click on 'logout' and select open in new window.
Close 'log out' window
Click on user, et voila! ;-)

Depends on why one is looking really. The main idea would be, I am sure, to want the person to know you're looking! ;-)

How can you look offline? You cant...can you? they just hide themselves once they have looked. Anyone fuck em, so what if they look lol
I know of at least one person who checks my profile most days, they are hidden because they are scared of me.

Being a mathematician numbers jump out at me so i notice when counters change...

ive always thought its because people are googling something else.
when my screen name was roadrage i had a lot of "offline" viewings, and just assumed its because they googled "roadrage" and my profile popped up as one of the choices?
