uthoic Male (63) from Middlesex

Gregarious, non-tattoed, non bejewelled, fancy dress party whiskers(optional), outgoing, eclectic, confident, positive, loner occasionally. Working as an IT Professional, with a PhD, I have always thought quite a lot about what I am
doing and about how the world is. I think it is
pretty important to have a clear view (good and
bad) but also to make sure that all the wonderful
and enjoyable things in life remain in view. I
like to laugh a lot but it tends to be with people
with whom I am also quite serious.
I believe in the value of listening to solve
problems particularly within relationships. I like
to get to the bottom of things; I get bored with
superficiality (but also with mono-vision).
I guess I would like to meet someone who also
likes to read and think - who has a passion for
something that isn't incredibly shallow - and looks at life from lots of different angles. I think it
is crucial that both people in a relationship are prepared to admit that they might be wrong, and that camping or hotel, crisps or caviar, are acceptable choices.
I was brought up on the edge of a seaside town's countryside and hence enjoy spending some weekends out of London especially the Chichester, and Southwold type areas in the south. Others would be S.Wales, N.Yorkshire, the Lake District, and the N.E. Highlands.
I believe in working to live and try to make the most of everyday.
Evenings are spent in with a good book or video, catching up with friends over dinner or a drink and out and about at parties, folk/rock, jazz/rock, theatre, restaurants, ballet,
the odd exhibition in a castle or stately home ( English Heritage/ National Trust membership). I keep fit by cycling on canal/ river towpaths and David Lloyds sports Centres. The ironing
and vacuuming gets fitted in somewhere around the Agelink Charity, Friends of the Earth, & Uxbridge Chorale. Tried Scots Country Dance recently, not sure about it ! Formerley scuba dived (paddi) and windsurfed.
I've done quite alot of travelling(China 3 yrs ago) but the 'To visit' list still keeps growing. Hoping to visit Argentina (where mother born of Glaswegian parents), soon and I would love some company to share it with.
I'm always(well nearly always) willing to try new things as long as it's not watching soccer, 'cos rugger and cricket are my lounge lizard activities ( I don't however , want to sound like a sporting snob). Rowing was great to partcipate in but not rivetting to watch.
I live in W.London so nearby areas of Central London, SW London, NW London, Berks, Bucks, Herts, Surrey, would be good for liasons. An ideal partner's hair/eye colour is not important. Somebody who is a decision maker and interested in London & outside cultural activities, and surroundings, plus of course the coast, like the Manhood (no pun intended)Peninsula, at the apex of which Patrick Moore the astronomer resides. Offbeat and conventional holidays in Europe, UK and beyond (all America's ?). What makes me tick is various outlets for my manic diversity, i.e. a local choir, the local Friends of the Earth, Agelink Charity and David Lloyd's Sports Centre. Joined a social club called Hillingdon Quest, which includes UK Canal holidays, for 12months, but not now. I have a few close friends who I don't see as often as I should, for reasons I hope are apparent from above.
