I am a friendly blue eyed red-head who is positive about life and sees her glass as half full rather than half empty. I really enjoy reading and have just finished a part time literature degree. I enjoy all the usual things, socialising, theatre, cinema, all types of music etc. Like to keep fit by walking, swimming, and practicing yoga. Would love to learn to play golf.
Enjoys watching most sport but especially love to watch cricket.
I have my own house and car and have just retired and trying to decide what to do with the rest of my life. I have one son who does not live at home.
It would really be good to find someone special to share things with but also just happy to meet up and make new friends.

My hobbies and interests

Cooking	Love to cook and try out new recipes, I was a vegetarian for a few years and still don't eat meat too much. I eat most types of food except japanese. I usually bake a cake once a week just as my mum always did, homemade is always better!
Shopping	Can take it or leave it although sometimes it is just the best way to spend a rainy saturday. I am currently into saving money so have not been shopping for a while.
DIY	Have had to learn to use an electric drill so know how to put up shelves, pictures etc and I did manage to tile my kitchen although would not get my hands dirty out of choice
Housework	I do housework but am not ruled by it, if there's something better to do then I will be there.
Dining out	Love to eat out and try new restaurants. I suppose my favourites would be Indian, Italian, North African and French restaurants but also enjoy 'pub grub'
Movies	I really love going to the pictures and think it is a great evening out especially if there is popcorn. I like to watch European films especially French films. Woody Allen, Clint Eastwood, John Malkovich are favourites
Theatre	Enjoy live theatre but am not into musicals, I prefer to watch any kind of play but that is not to say that I could not be persuaded to go to the odd musical
Music	I am really into my music and very often prefer listening to it than watching TV. Have very catholic taste, love opera, rock, country and western but not into pop.
Gigs	Regularly go to gigs to see bands that I like. I prefer small venues to stadiums. Bands that I have seen recently are Counting Crows, Idlewild, Feeder, Cardinals
Pubs	I enjoy going out to a pub and having a pint, I like to drink real ale and I also love taking part in pub quizzes.
Clubbing	Not into clubbing at all
Newspapers and magazines	The paper I buy most regularly is the Observer on a Sunday but just recently I have taken to reading newspapers on line
Books	I alway have to be reading a book, I have recently started using my local library in order to save money. Authors I like are William Boyd, A S Byatt, S Dunmore and I am currently reading the Steig Larsson trilogy
TV	I do watch TV but am not addicted, I sometimes prefer to listen to music or Radio 4 . I like to watch episodes of old sitcoms such as Frasier or Cheers and enjoy dramas and have to occasionally have my fix of Coronation Street.
Watching sport	I like watching most sports but particularly cricket, golf. rugby union and the odd football match
Playing sport	I play the odd game of tennis and badminton and enjoy playing boules in the back garden. I would like to learn play golf and bowls.
Hobbies	I love to spend time in my garden, also enjoy walking and I swim and practice yoga in an effort to keep fit. I am a member of the V&A so regularly spend time there also the National Trust. I like to travel and have recently been on my first cruise which I loved so looking to go on another.

My hopes and dreams

In ten years I see myself	Living in the countryside either in the UK or abroad with someone I love
Who would I invite to a dinner party?	It would have to be Napoleon, Eddie Izzard and Ryan Adams
My ideal date	Going to an art gallery or museum, walking together and sharing a meal.
What would I never, ever give up?	I don't think that I could give up the odd glass of red wine as I just enjoy it too much
If I had to give a speech on a subject I was passionate about ...	I think that it would be about engaging young people and trying to make them aware of everything that is out there for them
If I could visit anywhere in the world at any time in history	Paris when Napoleon was Emperor
If I had a million pounds to give to charity	It would have to be to an African children's charity
