Time Wayfarer (49) from Derbyshire
I have been a member of M.S.E. for a while, though until recently had removed my profile and pictures. Because after my first experience of the site, I did not see the point in writing individual and well constructed letters. Only for those I sent them to, not to have the courtesy to reply, with even a thanks but no thanks. However I have decided to come back and try again.
How can I describe myself, without (on some points) sounding immodest? Well, perhaps the best way would be to say what others have said about me. I have been told I am kind, caring, have virtue, integrity and I am honest. Some say I have a good sense of humour. Though most say I can appreciate, or even develop a humorous aspect to most things. My serious side though has also been recognised by others. Life can sometimes be, a bit like a roller-coaster, with high and low times. My friends know, if they ever need help, I will be there for them.
I have no ‘set in stone’ parameters, but I think there will be some sort of mutual attraction. As to what that might be, only time will tell. Thinking more deeply about this area. I would like a lady who has an understanding and caring nature. Who like me she should appreciate the simple things in life. Perhaps she might value her own space and independence, but also would like to be cared for, in a mutually loving relationship. I would not want to take anything away from her life that she holds dear, only to add to it and hopefully bring joy and happiness.

My hobbies and interests

Cooking
I like cooking. With my favourites being Italian, Indian, English and my own combination of various other styles. Would you like me to cook for you?
Shopping
Generally I don't mind doing it, for or with someone else. If I am with someone and they enjoy shopping, then I am happy to do something with them that they get pleasure from. I especially like doing the food shopping though and picking only the best produce.
DIY
I am not bad with a hammer and other tools. I can do basic electrics and plumbing. Putting shelves up, that stay up and are level, is well within my capabilities.
Housework
It is no joy, though I am house proud, so it has to be done.
Dining out
My dining out foods, are very similar to my eating in meals, see above.

Movies
If I had to choose my favourite film or two it would be a hard task, but the first one to come to mind is Exodus, from the book by Leon Uris - beautiful music and an emotive story. Also I liked Forrest Gump. The Hunt for Red October was a good film and another submarine one, Crimson Tide with Gene Hackman. Also starring Gene Hackman Bat 21 and Target, were great. Green Card with Gérard Depardieu. Then there is Shining Through, with Melanie Grifith & Michael Douglas. Also The Holiday with Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz and Jude Law. These possibly being classed as ‘chick flicks’ not that there is anything wrong with a guy, liking that sort of thing. I like films that make one think and have an understandable story to them.

Theatre
Plays, live dance (modern ballet). Don't like dreary boring things. Do like colourful lively productions.

Music
My music tastes are pretty wide I like classical music, especially Baroque - Vivaldi, Albinoni, Marcello and Handel are amongst my favourite I enjoy Jazz, I particularly like Miles Davis and various pieces from other artists, such as Eva Cassidy, Nina Simone, Dave Brubeck. Also like compilations such as ‘Jazz on hot summer’s evening’. I have always liked melodic rock, and music with rhythm, and some of the mainstream reggae appeals to me, as does The Beatles, J.Lennon, Wings, George Harrison, R.E.M., Eric Clapton, Dire Straights, U2, Cheryl Crow, B. Streisand, E. Brooks, Carole King, D.Summer, G. Estefan, etc.

Gigs
It depends upon the band.
Pubs
I prefer country type pubs, that are not loud. Though have a nice feel to them, such as a roaring fire in the winter time. Also those that serve good quality food, rather than that out of a packet.
Clubbing
Not my sort of thing.
Newspapers and magazines
I prefer informative newspapers, with 'real' articles. If you know what I am talking about, you will know the sort of papers I read.
Books
My current book is about painting as in art. Though I read adventure, history, geography, science, auto and biographies, cookery, nature books.

Documentaries, the news, similar subjects to those I read about (see above). I am not into the soaps, though I don't mind if you are.

Hobbies
I enjoy the countryside, nature and coast, photography, cooking and vegetarian food, eating out and in, whether I be cooking or someone else is preparing the food. (Though if you are not vegetarian, that is fine). I am very fond of boats and boating, enjoying the tranquillity and beautiful scenery found by many rivers and canals.
I like old buildings and architecture in general. I also like art and artistic painting. I am not into clubs, but like nice pubs, be they country ones or refined non-loutish ones.
Liking all the normal things such as films, theatre and the arts in general. I also enjoy Scrabble, Monopoly and most board games. I also have an interest in alternative health, healthy living and renewable energy.
Having good conversations/debates about a variety of subjects is also quite entertaining. With the right company possibly making it more so.
