I'm 45, single, live on the edge of the north-west Essex countryside. My companion is an 11-year-old golden retriever called Bess. I am an ex-computer analyst, now trying to ‘become’ a novelist. I like literature, good music, TV, the arts generally, and deep discussions on anything at all. I enjoy walking and cycling in the country; being close to nature and exploring places of historical interest. I like quiet nights in by the fireside; and am getting more into gardening and DIY these days. I like playing games too and have thought up a few of my own. I’m not especially sporty, but try to keep fit, and I do like motor racing. I have an interest in environmentalism and have done voluntary nature conservation work at the weekends; also mental health. I play bridge regularly too. I'm the sensitive creative type, but caring, reliable and honest. I'm approx 5'9'' and slim with brown hair. I'm fairly secure financially. 

I'm still looking for that elusive soulmate to settle down with; someone kind, relaxed, intelligent, interesting; and not too much the party-animal.
