I've recently turned 40 and have decided to make my profile before I turn completely grey/bald.
I am looking for I don't know whom - someone nice, funny and kind, preferably female!
I am open minded and good fun, but find I am becoming less confident as I get older. Why is this?
I guess I am really just looking to make a new friend. I like wholesome things like the tweeting of birds, the swoosh of leaves and the er the crinkle of crisp fivers.

Cooking	yes I can cook, in fact am baking bread just now. i love food, trying new things, yum yum
Shopping	i'm typical male - know what i want, fly in, grab it, get out again like online shopping too
DIY	i'm ok, not great. usually break something while fixing something else. once got a nail in my wrist while cutting wood and ended up in a taxi to a&e with a bit of nailed wood sticking to my arm
Housework	i love to get right up under the rim!
Dining out	who doesn't like eating out. only once a month these days, but don't worry, I'll give you at least a meal before I try to get you into bed (that was a joke!)
Movies	I don't really like 'x-men' type stuff. i like de niro type stuff, also comedies, also french films - anything not too hollywood.
Theatre	used to work in theatres so love them. don't go to as much as i should. i'd see almost any art form
Music	i like depressing, sad songs
Gigs	went to see foo fighters couple of time last year. apart from that, haven't been to gigs much recently. aren't i too old for it?
Pubs	yes, like pubs and things. like drinking, but don't worry, i'm no alkie. however, when i'm in my 80s and ready to die, I do plan to spend my last couple of days bingeing on fags and booze and pills. what a way to go!
Clubbing	probalby prefer not to these days. don't mind a boogie though
Newspapers and magazines	just read whatever's to hand. don't get a regular paper
Books	yer, i read in short sharp bursts. just read 'the island of doctor moreau'. Perfect for me cos its only about 100 pages.
TV	Don't watch too much. Tend to watch stuff like Gavin and Stacey and the odd Champions League match. Don't tend to get tied into series of stuff
Watching sport	see above used to be football daft, but realised what a waste of time it all was. I like most sport though
Playing sport	these days just walk and cycle i'm reasonably fit and very healthy - i never get man flu and i hate men who do wimps!
Hobbies	no particular thing - i go through phases of things. this year so far it has been antiques. so any antiques out there, get in touch

My hopes and dreams

In ten years I see myself	i would like to be slimmer, in a new wee house of my own, with my kids finished uni (if they go!) and maybe travelling a bit more.
Who would I invite to a dinner party?	oliver reed - gregarious and entertaining dylan moran - he makes me laugh and he'd stay for brandy and cigars tracey emin - she's kind of cute in a strange way
My ideal date	someone who won't tell her friends how small my.... no, er, someone free spirited and pretty and funny
What would I never, ever give up?	being able to laugh because if we take ourselves too seriously we're doomed
If I had to give a speech on a subject I was passionate about ...	about the lack of freedom we give our children these days and how did we all get so scared of everything
If I could visit anywhere in the world at any time in history	i guess it would be to live as a roman emperor - enjoying a few years of debauchery before being dispatched by my euneuch lover. wow! (how do you spell 'yoo-nuk'?
If I had a million pounds to give to charity	honestly don't know. something animally i guess
