So why do I keep on coming back if this environment is such a potential mine field? Good question. Probably because I, like many, have a need to engage in contact with other life forms in the Terran system and have little opportunity of doing it from my usual orbit.

As transient as most of the friendships I have pursued via this medium are, just occasionally there may be one or two persons that will be genuine enough to want to make it work. A rarity though and, disappointingly, none have been female so far.

2012 Update
============

Finally on the threshold of making that move I have been dreaming about since 2004! From mid February 2012 I will be moving down to Poole for a new start so new home, new friends, new everything??!

I am happily attached but still hoping to make a few platonic friends, ladies and gents, who may share some of my interests - especially drumming - or bring me into contact with some new and different ones. Interests other than football, sport and drinking please!

Building that female support network I have read about in books would be nice (though I suspect it to be urban legend) as I now realise that though I still keep in contact with them, most of my friends are male and have moved on, emigrated or are too far away to see for a cuppa or a chat or...

A FILM NIGHT AT HOME??? :-)

Actually, truth be known, some friends have drifted away because they are male and having found new female partners, they suddenly become untrustworthy to maintain friendships with females any more! Does this look like self esteem issues to anyone else or is it just me? lol Fortunately, my partner and I are more enlightened...
