About me

I'm intelligent, argumentative, musical, articulate, practical, capable, and spoken for!

I graduated in 2007, having gone to university about twenty years late (leaves on the life line, or something), after a career of some 25 years in IT, based in London.

I now live in West Wales with my partner, Solstice, whom I met on the site, and combine running a one-man business doing maintenance and repair work with a developing career in psychological therapies.

In my leisure time, I do things with yeast - baking and brewing - and cook, walk (far too occasionally), and enjoy music. Having neglected my own musical side for far too long, I am now rediscovering it again, and have been singing in a vocal group since I came to Wales. I am now taking singing lessons, with a view to making an exhibition of myself some time in the future. Sometimes, when I find the time, I grow things: mostly things to eat.

I've always had a practical turn of mind, and enjoy figuring out how things work - indeed, it's probably from having to make them work again after I've finished figuring them out that I developed my skills at repairing and constructing things! I also have an interest in philosophy, which was awakened by my degree studies.

Dislikes: being labelled, those who Will Not See ("there's none so blind as..."), paperwork, bureaucracy, intolerance; and if the PC Brigade (whoever they are!) gave out cards, I'd be a card-carrying member. At the moment, my favourite quotation is by Schiller: "Mit der Dummheit kämpfen Götter selbst vergebens" (google it!)

In between all that, I gather I'm a bit of a heavyweight intellectual do-gooder - well, it's always nice to have some interests, isn't it? *grin*
