SOLI    (56) from the West Midlands 

Female, heterosexual, 55 year old I am optimistic, generally happy and although usually quite serious I have a wicked sense of humour and I know how to have fun. My marriage ended four years ago, no one else involved my 2 daughters left for uni. and I realised that it was time I left too. I have dealt with all the demons and I am now ready to get on with my life.
I am 5ft 2 tall, average build, medium legnth dark brown hair (with the aid of modern science), my eyes are blue and I wear contact lenses. I am affectionate and tactile with those I love. I like to flirt particularly with close friends but I am not prone to public displays of affection unless its with my man. I think too much and probably talk too much ( doesn’t every woman?) I would rather listen to music ( from Soul to Sonata) than watch the TV. My favourite place is Dartmouth in Devon, my least favourite a room full of cigarette smoke.
I love my girls dearly but they live independent lives ( they are 23 and 26) and I live alone. I have joined to meet people, share trips to the theatre, cinema, shows, concerts (not classical), dinner (out or at home) I am not interested in sport, politics or moaning about the weather or cost of living in this country that I love. I am not a tree hugger but I love being outdoors particularly near water or in it or under it. I have no pets because I don’t want to be tied anymore but I do love animals though not as much as people. I am very energetic but not into high impact exercise. I love chocolate, ice cream, sea food (particularly prawns) and a good white wine. I read biographies and autobiographies mainly these days. My best night out this year was the farewell tour of BB King supported by Gary Moore – wonderful. My best day out was skating on the moat of the tower of London – I needed to see if I could still do it – I got a few bruises on my bottom but it made me feel alive. I am happy sitting opposite someone who I get along with chatting or putting the world to right and eating a nice meal. I enjoy revisiting the past (I loved the late 60’s and early 70’s – we had it all) but I live in today and like to imagine what the future might be.
I am considered strong – its mainly smoke and mirrors -but as a close male friend once said “ Inside every strong woman there is a girl who needs a strong pair of arms around her” I am confident generally but I am out of practice as a single person and I was never the life and soul of the party type- though I looked great in my very mini skirts in my youth and loved to strutt my stuff.
