Snowplode (33) from East Sussex
I really enjoy both the very high-brow, and silly childlike fun, just as much. I'll debate philosophy and in the next breath be giggling over a silly thought that popped into my head! I am passionate about lots of things and believe in being in touch with my emotions.
I'm a musician and songwriter in my spare time, and play (in order of increasing size) ukulele, guitar and double bass. I still hold out hopes of becoming a rock star, although I do seem to be leaving it a little late for my bid for glory! I've also been learning ballroom and Latin dancing, but starring on "Strictly..." is rather a long way off! I'll give you a slow, romantic waltz around the floor any day, though.
I don't believe in horoscopes but I'm a typical Cancer in so many ways, which means I can be a bit shy or slow to open up - but get under my shell and I'll stand by you forever. So give me a message and I promise I won't bite (unless you're into that, of course!)
The sort of person I'm hoping to meet is someone who's confident in herself but can let go of everything and relax into my arms as well. I think I'm a very romantically-minded person overall, although my sense of humour is quite filthy at times so hopefully you'll share that (or at least not be shocked by it!) I would certainly like to meet a date who shares my love of both the silly and the sublime, who's happy going straight from deep thoughts to tears of laughter.
About me
I'm 33 years old and come from East Sussex in the United Kingdom. I'm single with no kids. I'm 5' 10" tall and of cuddly build. I don't smoke and I drink occasionally. I'm here for dating.
My detailed facts
My hobbies and interests
Cooking
Love cooking, especially baking (I usually make cakes and cheese straws and biscuits - I just need someone to share them!) I also make a really good curry sauce, and enjoy playing with the staples like spag bol.
Shopping
I can have a lot of fun browsing in shops, and when I have something specific I want I love hunting around for the exact right thing - I think it goes back to caveman hunter-gatherer instincts.
DIY
I can cope with most DIY tasks (flat-pack furniture is a doddle for me!) and have done a few projects myself.
Housework
I am not very good at housework, but I am also inclined towards houseproud homeliness, which is an awkward mix. I at least manage to make sure my home is in a state where I wouldn't be mortified if someone else saw it!

Dining out
Not a big one for dining out: my idea of a great dinner date is sitting on a park bench looking up at the stars, chatting about Life, the Universe and all that stuff, and sharing a meal from the fish'n'chip shop (which is definitely my favourite dish for eating out). I can do sophisticated, but simple pleasures are often more, well, pleasurable.
Movies
Love movies. Another "simple pleasures" thing for me - James Bond, Star Wars ("Empire Strikes Back" is the best of the lot, but I like all 6), all that action-adventure stuff. A good thriller or horror movie also entertains me.
Theatre
Not much of a theatre-goer, but enjoy it when I do. I am lucky enough to have seen opera at Glyndebourne, which was an amazing experience.
Music
Too many to mention! Most types of guitar music, there's at least one artist or group that I like. Big fan of Queen. Love Metallica. Oasis. Stone Roses. Early rock'n'roll. Cream (Eric Clapton's supergroup, not the nightclub!). John Lee Hooker. Seasick Steve. Billie Holliday. Bluegrass music. Bellowhead. Show of Hands. Crowded House. Peggy Seeger. Kate Rusby. Some modern punk (and some of the original 1970s stuff). Also exploring more electronica and finding some of that works for me as well.
Gigs
Love live gigs, don't get to as many as I would like to.
Pubs
I am quite introverted so going out in general isn't my thing, but as long as I have good friends with me then it's nice to get out of the house.
Clubbing
Clubbing was never really my thing.
Newspapers and magazines
Occasional reader (although make use of the ones that are still free websites). Main choice is Guardian or Independent.
Books
I have two piles of about a dozen books each (fiction and non-fiction) that are my "to-read" list. I never seem to have enough shelves for the stuff I read. I want to be a librarian!
At the moment, I'm going through the Bible, Eric Berne's "What Do You Say After You Say Hello?" (which talks about what people actually say to each other, rather than offering advice!) and just started a Jeffery Deaver murder mystery. The non-fiction pile has mythology, mathematics, history, politics and art (specifically, a book called "Kitsch"!); the non-fiction pile has more murder mysteries, some sci fi, a romance novel, and some feminist novels.
TV
Not as much as I used to. A few movies now and then, a couple of sci fi dramas (Doctor Who has always been my favourite television show!), some comedy (most sitcoms leave me cold nowadays, but I love current affairs comedy shows like 10 O'Clock Live, Have I Got News For You, and so on)
Watching sport
I love watching all manner of sports; I support various football teams, the Green Bay Packers in American football, Yorkshire in the county cricket, and otherwise generally back the underdog.
Playing sport
Recently got back into playing cricket after a long absence from the sport - it's my first love, being brought up in the Yorkshire tradition!
Hobbies
I love getting my sewing machine out and making little bits and pieces. I haven't yet dared to try making anything too complicated, but on my "to-do" list is making a shirt for myself. I spent a little while taking ballroom and Latin dancing classes (finding a partner for that would be great!) I also like swords and have a collection (which hobby has the added bonus that when the zombie apocalypse comes, I'll be ready!)
