I am: poor but interesting, intelligent and educated, a little unconventional, politically incorrect, not a follower of fashion, or of fashionable ideas, a scientist with an interest in the arts and literature and a rational view of the world, an atheist, a countryman, affectionate, tactile, relaxed and easy to be with.
I like, in no particular order: conversation, books, films, art galleries and museums, poetry, history, the view from my window, tea-shops, a fairly wide variety of music, including jazz, classical, rock, folk, some country and, especially, The Hot Club of Cowtown, the West of Ireland, Italy, real beer, claret, malt whisky (all in moderation), comfortable clothes, leather shoes, natural fibres, rugby, sheep, horses and hounds, terriers, Border Collies, cats, ducks, learning something new.
I have no interest in: football, designer labels, clubbing, lager, lying on the beach, religion or "spirituality"
I am irritated by: loudness, flashing lights, the Blairs, restrictions on free speech, alternative and "complementary" therapy, any credibility given to the "para-normal", political corruption. ( I am old enough to be a grumpy old man!)
I have worked in museums, in the pig industry and in agricultural business advice and now sell second-hand books, mainly non-fiction. I am still learning the business and greatly enjoying doing so.
I am hoping to meet an intelligent, interesting, affectionate woman. Age, size and looks are unimportant. You may be slightly eccentric. You will probably not be an extreme extrovert, as I am an extrovert, though sometimes it's hardly noticeable. Children are fine, as I like children and young people, though I don't know much about them. I don't mind where you live, as I enjoy travelling.
