SelinaO (32) from Cardiff
This is always the hardest part to do!! I'm 31, from Dublin but now living in Cardiff. I’’m generally a remarkably happy person and stubbornly optimistic. I’m passionate about what I research (international climate change politics and humanitarian intervention), I love working up a sweat either with regular hobbies which are yoga (ashtanga or hot yoga), badminton, swimming, and running when I can or recreational hobbies (most adventure sports and water sports)and love getting outdoors - most of the time!
I'm massively into music and like most kinds from swing to electro and caberet to dance - my current favourite is soul or motown, or something a bit folksy. I'd say indie music too but that's such a broad genre! I love going to small gigs and festivals. I love to entertain and cook, and could read for days on end whenever I find a book that captivates me (not a bad trait in my line of work either).
I love wandering around galleries if there is a good exhibition on, and like ocassional theatre visits. At weekends anything fun to potter about at is always a winner for me, like markets or street festivals. Whenever I have time (which I try to make often) lounging over the papers with a lot of good coffee is a sunday morning pleasure.
I suppose, like everybody else, I’’m looking for someone to enjoy sharing some of what I've just described with, just someone I enjoy being with and can relax with and have pleasant conversations, and plenty of laughs!

My detailed facts
My hobbies and interests
Cooking
I love cooking, I'm always trying new things or experimenting with trusted recipes. To cook I like Japanese and Malaysian, or also 'traditional' dishes - I can do a great crispy roast chicken! I also love baking but put a limit on myself as otherwise I'd never stop eating cakes!!
Shopping
Depends, if I'm in the humour I enjoy shopping, especially for gifts or nice cookware, and I could browse in bookshops or record shops forever! I don't enjoy window shopping at all, or battling through crowds on busy days and only go if I can't get out of it
DIY
Well I can change a lightbulb and put together furniture if that counts. But anything more complicated like plumbing or building shelves etc. I'm totally clueless.
Housework
I'm pretty houseproud and like keeping the place nice, but it's certainly lived in, shoes in the hall, books on the table and a cup in the sink don't bother me, but excessive mess or dirt does of course - I imagine that's normal right?
Dining out
I like eating out, and probably take myself out far too often, I usually like things I wouldn't cook for myself but I will quite literally go anywhere. Japanese, indian, french, malay, spanish...yum!
Movies
I like films and do enjoy the cinema, but I'm no film buff or movie nut! I'm not a fan of 'chick flicks' in general, but equally don't like over-indulgent hugely 'arty' films. I like good comedy, thrillers, a bit of action if I'm in the humour, and love French films - also if I'm in the humour.
Theatre
I love going to the theatre, I'm 'guilty' of enjoying musicals, and like classic plays. I don't mind new scripts but I am not keen on modern interpretations, I like plays to have a cast, and props and scenes/acts. I love Tenessee Williams plays and Chekov but I'll go see anything that catches my eye
Music
I kind of went into this in my about me section - there are too many to name names or make lists but I love David Bowie
Gigs
Gig-hound, love small gigs in pubs, or festivals also, not too keen on huge stadium events ubless I truly love the artist
Pubs
Oh I love the pub! :) I don't like trendy pubs where anyone goes 'to be seen', and I do prefer cosy 'old-man' pubs where I can relax with a glass of something nice. Old pubs with a bit of character are great - I'm new to cardiff so haven't found many yet...suggestions are welcome!
Clubbing
I am definitely not up for club-hopping to charty pop music, but I good old proper dance is a must on occassion.
Newspapers and magazines
I read the Guardian or the Observer depending on the day I buy it, and the Independent or Times on other days, although unless it is a quiet weekend I tend to read selectively online.
Books
I love to read, I read every day for work so am full up of books or journals covering politics and climate change and international laws. For leisure reading it is hard to define my favourite books, I love Nicole Kraus, Scarlett Thomas, John Connolly.
TV
I watch TV quite often but don't really follow anything avidly. I am nerdily fond of University challenge and sometimes follow other things - like Pan Am at the moment, and I like music documentaries but I canusually take or leave any programme.
Watching sport
Not usually a spectator, unless it's six nations rugby, the football world cup, or gymnastics, diving or ice skating.
Playing sport
Also covered this in my about me section! I love sports, I do yoga, run when I can although an injury means this is infrequent now, and play badminton or racketball whenever I can find an opponent
Hobbies
I don't do anything I would call particularly unique. Although I do want to learn the banjo and take dance lessons.
