My hobbies and interests
Cooking
I really enjoy cooking if I have someone to cook for! No point just doing it for myself. I like to experiment, I make a mean lasagne, and I'm known amongst friends as the cupcake queen!
Shopping
It's not something I'd choose to do all the time, but unfortunately if I want to look halfway decent it's a necessary evil!
DIY
I am completely useless. I can change a lightbulb and hang a picture but I'm quite accident prone so I'm of the opinion that sort of thing is best left to the professionals!
Housework
Typical girl, I've got clothes and shoes lying around but I swear they're all clean!
Dining out
I would eat out every day if I could, as I said I don't like cooking if there's no-one to cook for. Eating is a social event for me so I like a nice relaxed atmosphere - no cordon bleu for me!
Movies
I love the cinema, it's still a big event for me (sad I know!). I'd say I go 2-3 times a month.
Theatre
I adore the theatre, anything from your typical cheesy musical (I know all the words to Joseph and the Technicolour Dreamcoat) to the ballet.
Music
I write for an online music magazine so I have relatively eclectic tastes, willing to listen to almost anything.
Gigs
Definitely a supporter of local talent, a lot of my favourite bands are unsigned scottish acts whose gigs I attend somewhat obsessively!
Pubs
It has been said that I'm a bit of a party girl, but I'm just as happy in the house with a good book and a glass of wine.
Clubbing
Still love a good night dancing until I think my feet'll fall off, but then I'm still young! Imagine I'll grow out of it at some point!
Newspapers and magazines
I'm a scientist so the only paper I really hate is the Daily Mail, because of their constant 'Everything gives you cancer' propaganda! Other than that I'll happily read most anything put in front of me - nothing beats the Times Sunday pullouts!
Books
I constantly have my nose in a book and couldn't possibly choose a favourite; I tend to veer towards historical fiction.
TV
I don't own a TV! They are the devils work!
Watching sport
Rugby. That's it.
Playing sport
Sometimes I can barely co-ordinate walking never mind playing a sport, plus I completely lack the competitive gene! I do keep fit classes though, my latest one is Army boot camp classes in the park!
Hobbies
I can play the piano, I'm learning French, I'm planning on learning to drive and I did take flying lessons until they nearly bankrupted me!
My hopes and dreams
In ten years I see myself
In ten year time I hope to have my medical degree/PhD, have travelled some and be settled in another country - maybe with someone, maybe not! I'll see where the wind takes me!
Who would I invite to a dinner party?
I know you're meant to say something intellectual for this but to be honest I'd have my nephews - they're always fun to be around! Maybe my brother (their dad) as well - to keep them in check!
My ideal date
Nothing too contrived, doesn't matter if it's dinner or a crazy adventure as long as it's relaxed! Trying something I've never done before is always a winner, and I love to be surprised!
What would I never, ever give up?
The internet - what did people do before they had internet?! I use it for work, entertainment, keeping in touch with friend, internet banking etc - I wouldn't know what to do without it!
If I had to give a speech on a subject I was passionate about ...
The NHS and how people need to stop overburdening the system with self inflicted health issues.
If I could visit anywhere in the world at any time in history
I think I would like to go back to a time when people couldn't see the end; like during the Second World War and assure them that it'd be alright and the world won't end!
If I had a million pounds to give to charity
I'd split it between Amnesty International, Cancer Research and Medicines Sans Frontiers.
My "and finally" section ...
I think these questions have covered absolutely everything - if you can think of a question to ask me then well done!
