Hi, I'm Phil, thanks for looking at my profile.

Widowed since 2000 I have discovered that there is still a life to live and enjoy.....I have also discovered what some of those knobs on the cooker and washing machine do but am still mightily confused by something called a vacuum cleaner.

What makes me happy? Red wine, time with my loved ones, holidays, puppies, red wine, log fires, summer days, summer nights, red wine, close friendships, my home, red wine and many other things (Oh, by the way, did I mention that I don't mind the odd drop of red wine?)

What makes me sad? A lack of red wine, winter, conflict with my loved ones, snow, white wine, bad red wine.

I know that I'm pretty much outside the 'required age range' of the majority of ladies on this site (after all I could hardly be described as a toy boy!), but I don't feel it, don't look it and certainly don't act it!

Growing old is mandatory but growing up is entirely optional, and let's face it ladies, there really is no substitute for experience ;)

My ideal lady? Well, she will be around 3' 6" and above (this is a guideline only of course), she will have a warped sense of humour (if you haven't realised that by now you really should stop reading this drivel immediately!), she will think she is average but in fact will be beautiful in my eyes, she will be a lady who enjoys being treated like a lady - by a gentleman who enjoys being a gentleman.

A liking for red wine wouldn't go too far amiss as I don't mind the odd drop myself! In fact the executive position of 'Wine Buddy' is open should you be interested in applying. No experience required, wonderful working conditions, negotiable hours but they could be very long and the pay is dreadful!

Well now, what are we going to do for our first date?

Shall we do something boring and safe such as meeting for a coffee....... or something a bit more daring? A hot air balloon over a Kenyan game reserve? A barrel over Niagara Falls (What do you mean 'you don't fancy that one?'), how about a log cabin on a Norwegian Fjord or a Carribean Cruise?

Oh OK, we'll save some of those for later........ :)
