I'll get the easy stuff out of the way first. I''m a single dad with Residential Care of a (nearly) 12 year old daughter and two cats. I've been divorced for 7 years now and the "war-wounds" are pretty well healed. Now that my daughter is old enough to look after herself for a few hours, I am looking to resurrect some sort of social life for myself.

I'm self-employed at the moment dealing with various branches computer software installation and repair.
Until my daughter was born, I travelled aroung the world teaching English (TEFL) in many countries. Germany, Turkey, Kenya and Uganda were my longest "tours" but I spent very lttle time in the UK for about 20 years. I love travelling and even though I haven't been able to do much in the last few years, still enjoy travelling around the UK when I get the chance.

I enjoy cooking, gardening, music, sports (but not kickball or swimming), walking, music (most types but Classical and Jazz are my favourite styles. Downloading stuff for my daughter has got me interested in some modern stuff.). I smoke a pipe and make my own wine. This years early strawberry is showing a lot of promise.
I don't think there is much that I actively dislike. Intolerance and bigotry is a big "no" for me. As for racism in any form, I find it loathsome. My daughter is mixed race by the way. I rarely watch TV, mostly because I can't stand soaps, reality shows and talent contests. I can usually find something far more interesting to do on the computer.

The difficulty part is describing my personality as I haven't really had any feedback to go on for some time. Some weeks the most intelligent conversation I get is with my adolescent daughter, who considers me a grumpy old ogre or the best dad in the world, depending on whether pocket money is due or not. Bearing in mind that some of this that some of the data for this information may be out of date, here goes though. I think I am:

Romantic, kind hearted, generous, tactile and warm hearted. I am also extremely loyal. I believe I am a good conversationalist and open minded but I am certainly not a PC "Save the Gay Single Whale" type. I can be stubborn at times and somewhat old-fashioned but have a GSOH, preferring wit to farce. As a Yorkshireman by birth, I tend to speak my mind rather than hide behind half truths and white lies. The biggest compliment paid to me recently was by my daughter "Dad, you can be great fun to be with sometimes"




 

I want to meet people for conversation and friendship and see what happens from there. I don't think romance, relationships etc are something you can plan. I am a member of several other sites where you can can chat to people online but above all I want a social life away from the computer, telephone etc. Age, looks, creed, colour, race are far less important to me than good conversation and above all fun.
