I am a writer looking for e-mail friends. I'm married with one daughter. I enjoy history, reading, Yoga and most sports. I'm also a Buddhist and interested in the spritual side of life.

I love reading and usually have about 3 books on the go. I was in in a Bronte phase when I signed up, hence the name.

Musically I tend to go for quiet and thoughtful - like me! Paul Simon, James Taylor, Peter Gabriel, Joni Mitchell. All old and half-dead - like me... But some newer stuff - Tori Amos (well, she's under 50 at least)

The reincarnation of Charlotte Bronte - but in the unlikely event that she's not on here, anyone who can write English instead of text-speak will do.

My hobbies and interests

Cooking	Love cooking with my favourite music on and maybe a glass of wine to aid the ambience. Italian/Mediterranean is my favourite, with Japanese as the occasional challenge.
Shopping	Can't beat a bit of retail therapy. I could spend all my money on books and magazines. And in fact do.
DIY	I usually leave a trail of blood behind...
Housework	Housework should be tackled with gusto. Eventually.
Dining out	Love dining out and trying new places. If I didn't spend all my money on books and magazines I would even try it some time.
Movies	Like a good thriller, but haven't been to the pics in ages.
Theatre	Not a theatre buff. There is no pause or rewind button.
Music	I prefer quietish, reflective music with meaningful lyrics, but I don't mind the odd catchy pop song. My daughter is gradually educating me in that area.
Gigs	Bit of a stay at home music fan but I do like the odd live gig.
Pubs	Real ale fan, minus the beard and sandals. No clubbing: not in the past, not now, not ever!
Clubbing	Noot in the past, not now, not ever!
Newspapers and magazines	When I have time for a daily it's the Independent's 20p "i". I have to have the Sunday Times. A lot of it irritates the life our of me but I can't give up the bits I like.
Books	I always have two or three books on the go. More into history and biography than fiction.
TV	I watch more than I'd probably like to admit. Come Dine with Me is my current fave.
Watching sport	I'm very sporty and there's not much I can't get interested in. Football, rugby and F1 would top the list.
Playing sport	Used to be a keen footballer but my knees are creaking these days. Can still get around the tennis court.
Hobbies	You can't beat inserting spring onions into random crevices. My therapist says there's absolutely nothing wrong with it - for now at least.

My hopes and dreams

In ten years I see myself	Taking in the view of the Fowey estuary from my harbour-front house (lottery win depending)
Who would I invite to a dinner party?	Samuel Pepys, Charlotte Bronte, and Nelson (but he'd have to bring his own specially adapted knife and fork).
My ideal date	September 3rd
What would I never, ever give up?	My Sunday lunchtime pint and sports pages.
If I had to give a speech on a subject I was passionate about ...	There are too many things I could get up on my soapbox about to be able to decide...
If I could visit anywhere in the world at any time in history	I have traced my family tree way back and I would love to be able to go back and visit various ancestors.
If I had a million pounds to give to charity	Any children's charity
