I am a warm, friendly, helpful person who gets on well with most people - I talk to strangers on buses and trains - I do a lot of this because I don't drive. I am an excellent listener and a loyal friend. I enjoy a good giggle, if it is not at someone else's expense. I am happiest when I'm busy but prone to laziness at times. Practically, I am pretty useless but I can cook and garden and I am a very efficient gopher/labourer.

I am a qualified mental health nurse and a senior lecturer at a local university. I enjoy my job particularly the communication aspects of it.

My husband died in May 2008 but regrettably I'm not a rich widow. I live with my dog and cat.

I'm not in a hurry to get married again but I enjoy male company so I would like to meet someone to go out with occasionally or more regularly if we get on well. To compensate for my impracticality, someone who is handy about the house/garden would come in useful. I am keen on bartering so in exchange for changing a light bulb I'll make a cake or cook a meal or if pushed do some ironing. Any friend of mine must like animals and not mind if I stop to rescue sheep or talk to a horse.
