My hobbies and interests

Cooking	Spent years cooking for the kids and baking for charity cake stalls etc. Now I live alone, I tend to keep it simple and healthy - love pasta, fish, veggie dishes, salads etc
Shopping	Try to avoid it as much as possible
DIY	Got a lovely tool box .... I've used the drill once .... I'm better with a sewing machine
Housework	Like it clean and tidy but not obsessed
Dining out	Not much of a foodie. I enjoy dining in or out - but it's the company and environment I enjoy more than the food
Movies	Not a regular film watcher - once in a blue moon. Enjoy films that capture my imagination and make me think - a bit of sci fi or mystery/intrigue
Theatre	I enjoy live performance - theatre, dance, ballet, opera - as an occasional treat.
Music	Enjoy bits of lots of different genres - nothing too head banging though!
Gigs	Not something I do often - I'm a bit of a noise-avoider
Pubs	Don't frequent pubs often - it's nice to have a refreshing glass of local ale at the end of a bike ride or country walk, though.
Clubbing	No, no, no.
Newspapers and magazines	Rarely have time to read them - would choose Times or Telegraph (mainly for the Crosswords!)
Books	Lots of favourites!
TV	Don't watch TV much - no current favourite shows
Watching sport	occasionally watch a bit of Wimbledon - not really keen on watching sport.
Playing sport	Walking / hiking is my main activity, also enjoy sailing & tennis
Hobbies	What are my strange and unique hobbies & interests? Well, I think I'd have to get to know you a little better before I reveal any of these!

My hopes and dreams

In ten years I see myself	Wherever the wind has blown me I gave up doing 10 year plans when I gave up my 'grown up' job. Now I've 'retired' early and do a part-time job for pleasure, it's great not having to worry about 10 year plans!
Who would I invite to a dinner party?	Is this the bit where you're supposed to be all erudite and suggest Ghandi and other amazing 'icons' ? Well, I'm going to say my two sisters and me - when I invite them for dinner, we always have a fab, fun time and laugh so much.
My ideal date	I enjoy calm and understated activities that give the opportunity to chat and get to know one's companion. Perhaps an outdoor evening of music in the gardens of Studley Royal/Fountains Abbey and a simple bread & cheese picnic with a bottle of something nice?
What would I never, ever give up?	This is a strange question. There is nothing material that I couldn't survive without. I would never want to give up my incurable optimism - I believe things will turn out well and they usually do!
If I had to give a speech on a subject I was passionate about ...	Community and voluntary work. If everybody 'did their bit' ,in some way, to enhance the lives of the community in which they live, the world would be a better place.
If I could visit anywhere in the world at any time in history	Paris. 1789 The French Revolution has always fascinated me - I'd want to be invisible, though, as I wouldn't want to lose my head! Or, perhaps, somewhere in the Roman Empire, at the height of their power Ooooh, too may possibilities to choose from - can't I just have a time machine and flit from one period to the next?
If I had a million pounds to give to charity	I'd have to give this some serious thought. Have often thought, if I won lots of money, it would be great to set up a charitable trust to fund small local charitable organisations, who often have trouble getting lottery funding.
