I've come back to the region recently after a long time working away so I want to make new friends to talk to and perhaps go out for social events.
Not looking for anything else.

I am a scientist by training and now work part time for a scientific consultancy.

I would like to meet people who have interests outside of work.

I like all kinds of music (except some jazz), mainstream cinema and like to read - all kinds of things. Never taken to Jane Austen though.

I try to take an interest in world affairs. Not yet convinced on global warming but willing to debate most subjects. 

Someone of about my own age, to be friends with.
Considerate and with a good sense of humour and an interest in the wider world to talk to and chat with.
Looks are less important than personality.
