jenhope (64) from Dorset

I moved to Dorset from Hertfordshire 21 years ago and have lived in West Hampshire and Dorset. I have worked as a teacher of adults, write work-related books and would love to find the time to write fiction. I work as psychotherapist and counsellor part-time and enjoy walking, theatre, the arts, any music, except heavy metal and hard rock. I love the sun and the sea - in it, on it or under it! So, I live in the right place as I live about 100 metres from the cliff top.

I am a home-bird: love entertaining, caring for others I care about (as well as professionally), log fires, emotional security (don't all women?) and someone who enjoys home-life as well as going out and about. I am interested in most things - and, as you can imagine, love reading and drama. Holidays in the sun, sailing, Australia, my grandson, beautiful music and laughter are experiences that make me happy, uplifted and joyful. I like to play (inner child) - any excuse to get on the beach!! I also enjoy listening to others - I find people fascinating - also cats and dogs. Sadly, I seem to be the kiss of death with the pets we had when my two children were growing up...but that's another story!

I have a dry sense of humour and my glass is always half full, rather than half empty. My physical appearance: 5' 10", blonde, blue eyes and fairly extrovert, but not alll of the time. I need my quiet time and space as well, especially as I've grown older and lived alone for some time. As a writer, I need time to think and write. I have a warm heart and generous nature - being with friends and those I love are very important to me. What is life if we can't enjoy being with others?


I'm sure my friends would say other things I haven't thought of. We never see ourselves the way others see us...

My ideal relationship would be with someone who was genuine, stable, kind, generous, warm, adventurous, spiritual, enjoyed cultural things (without being an intellectual snob!), liked travel - especially Australia and Greece (I'm learning Greek), is a thinking person, loves dancing, is solvent - and has a GSH. Not much to ask! He could be Australian, Greek or English. And he would need to be straight! My ideal partner would understand my need to write and for peace and quiet - maybe even write himself. Ideally a gentlemen who is either a similar age or slightly older, or younger. It's maturity that matters, whatever the age.
