About me

I believe in serendipity, which appeals both to my view of the way the world works and my curiosity for the things in the world. I was recently described as being so laid back as to be nearly horizontal which amused me somewhat as I try to look the world right in the eye! My outlook on life is optimistic, a bit competitive and my humour is in situations rather than jokes (it’s the way I tell them). I enjoy history and architecture, town and country, even the creepy crawlies and slimy things are fascinating (but not in your lettuce!). I get pleasure from walking in the country, along a towpath or the Thames. I keep fit cycling or racing canoes. I enjoy crime, murder, sci-fi and fantasy as a good read or to watch on a large or small screen. Sorry, cooking is not a strong point but I do have eclectic tastes and enjoy trying new foods. I’d like to travel, drive across America and cross the equator, so much better with a companion. I’m professional and honest but a bit shy and I like to take time getting to know people. I have an open mind about whom I would like to meet. Confidence and “get up and go” would be good though.
The Bug Project
This is a 1970's beach buggy found in a local lock up garage. Really not much left but a body and a chassis with an engine. After a bit of scrabbling about I have found out that it started life in 1962 and was converted sometime in the late 70's. The present engine is an uprated 1300 unit. It had been in the garage in which I found it since early 90's. It was originally blue, was painted gold then red and finally white!
28/2 Body is stripped out. Have a shopping list of parts required to repair chassis and had engine running today.
Keep watching to see it build back into a car by the time of the Knockout meet.
