October 2011: What a great time - 6 years of Midsummer and three wonderful 'friends'! One of those friends has moved on (after 3 years) to better things (becoming a grandmother!) and the other two are still on the scene after another three years. But one cannot have too many good friends!

Tall, dark and handsome of course, a knight in shining armour! Well,6 foot,fair hair and more youthful than many. Not fat - just large boned and solid with broad shoulders (Olympic rowing physique maybe!) A mugger might think I was a rugby player (slimline version as I don't drink vast amounts of alcohol) who would defend you quite easily.

I am not into spectator sport (tv or live).
Nor am I into the cult of celebrity or reality tv like Big Brother. Nor soaps please - you are on your own for these. Comedy is the spice of life - can't beat Only Fools and Horses, Cheers, Frasier, My Family etc. Plus some documentaries. A good film with a good 5.1 soundtrack.

This site is undergoing re-development - as am I.
I am a sometimes teacher.

I enjoy the great outdoors (countryside views and fresh air)and regularly do long walks of 10 miles+ at weekends, often using my lifetime membership of the National Trust. It is a couple of years since I went paragliding on Devil's Dyke - atrocious weather largely to blame. I like coastal areas and have thought many times about living in/near Brighton. Living by the coast/downs - what more could one ask for. I have joined a local tennis club and ski most years. Snow and mountains beats beaches - except for some sailing. I have looked into joining a local sailing club (I am RYA intermediate)but have yet to sign up. I tan just thinking about sunshine so no need for me to go on sunbathing holidays - you can go with the girlfriends! I have never smoked and only drink socially. Pub lunches but not pub drinking. However a jazz session might be fine. I am not into clubbing! The Cher types among you will have to go without me for these evenings. My preferred pint is semi-skimmed but a glass of cider goes down well after strenuous activity such as tennis/walking or a glass of red if socialising, with a meal or even snuggled up in front of the fire/tv. Other indoor activites have been known to include bridge and some reading though not enough novels.

Life is much improved by the act of SHARING.
Sharing pretty much anything - although it is good for each to have their own individual interests as well.

I'd like to meet anyone who is reasonably confident about themselves (though not necesarily extrovert - they don't need anyone). Shyness is not a problem - in fact quite attractive. Not many shy people around these days - most are TOO confident (teacher speaking)! I like the company of someone who is moderately thoughtful - nothing too serious from me but you are welcome to help save the dolphins or even to save the world - why not! We should all aim to put more into life than we take from it. I believe I have a sense of humour (is it evident in my profile) but think that FUN (for the sake of it) is FRIVOLOUS. Enjoy life by all means - but enjoy living, not just when assisted by alcohol or other drugs.
I suppose now that I/we are in the post 40s age group we will at least be free of rampant passion and lust - though an occasional hand hold wouldn't go amiss! Just something to let the other person know that they are special.
What am I looking for..... well a silly question really because if I knew the answer then I'd probably have found it! I like surprises (within reason). So surprise me........
