It has been said that a precisely worded personal advertisement will turn away most people but that the one person remaining will be the right one. I am looking for that one person. I want to enjoy the reciprocal warmth, devotion and contentment that one special person can bring. I have had my share of the storms of life but I remain optimistic that 'Miss Right' is out there somewhere. I am told that I have a warm, sensitive, caring nature and believe that I am essentially kind-hearted, genuine, straightforward, honest and easy to talk to. An historian and teacher I have a master's degree and have been professionally quite successful within my own little sphere but am not stuffy. I am friendly and sociable but emphatically not a social butterfly. A down-to-earth country boy at heart, I lead a modest home-centred lifestyle. The simple things in life make me happy - a walk in the open countryside, a shared bottle of wine, two people of one mind preparing a meal together or snuggled up on the sofa watching a video relaxed and secure in each other's company. My interests include the Arts in general - literature, poetry, history, local history, painting, photography, an eclectic taste in music, Radio 4, Classic FM, any kind of TV historical documentary, discussion, intelligent quiz, drama or old film, house and landscape design or just pottering in the garden, classic cars, motor-sport, camping, the rural environment, animals and birds. The beard in the photos is currently removed so can be on or off.
I've been used to ladies younger than myself and as I'm not a big hunk and can still get into a pair of trousers from 25 years ago I naturally feel congruent with someone who is essentially petite, slim and trim. I am attracted to ladies who are erudite and articulate (but haven't forgotten how to laugh), mildly confident and sociable (shy at first is fine) but not life and soul of the party animals. I find a demure, affectionate, feminine quality irresistible. You feel comfortable with the quieter aspects of life, being a homemaker and gardener but still with a zest for learning. You are happy exploring the countryside, browsing in bookshops, art galleries, National Trust properties, garden centres and the like. You are creative and enjoy listening and talking, communicating and sharing your thoughts and feelings. Fair-minded and well balanced, you believe in mutual respect, reciprocation, and traditional values and are happy to put into the pot as much as you take out of it in all aspects of a relationship. You are financially solvent with the usual trappings. Like me, you have a strong romantic streak, you know how to be a true friend and soulmate and you want a one to one loving relationship to be at the core of your life. Thank you for taking the time to read this and do please get in touch now if you feel that you might be that special lady.
