As men are visual creatures, let's get the looks out of the way first: described as "striking" or "glamorous" by well-meaning friends, 5'7", size 12, mid-dark brown hair, usually shoulder length, European style rather than English Rose. I always say I'm no beauty but I don't frighten the horses - yet! Well, friends are usually well-meaning but the truth is that the looks are going, the joints are creaking and keeping fit is becoming a chore. I've had better days but who hasn't?
Eclectic tastes in music, cuisine and fashion. An opera lover.
Enjoy museums, theatre, country-side, high-class window shopping and lots more. I take part in commercial music hall productions in concerts to raise money for worthy charities especially my city's very well-known cancer hospital.
I'm hoping (probably quite vainly) that people will consider my incredible advanced age with as much reverence as when they order an expensive, full-bodied (though I'm not), mature bottle of something terribly expensive in a posh restaurant.
Been described as cheerful in the face of adversity.
I sometimes take part in my local radio programmes and chat about the issues of the day. Nothing amazing. I'm quite aware that we are only used as "fillers" for the real personalities.
Yorkshire heart but a Mediterranean spirit. I love the sun, al freso eating, foreign languages and different cultures. Animal lover, particularly horses and dogs. Don't have any pets at the moment but hope to do so in the future.
I have been very occupied for some years caring for my mother who died in August. I think I need to get back out there and meet some nice people!
Someone with a good line in repartee, who knows a little about a lot, or even with some interesting specialty. Takes care of himself. Well-groomed. Doesn't always wear tee shirts and jeans.
Quietly confident.
And I know it's a hackneyed phrase but please, a nice sense of humour.
That will do for now.
